I need another story
Somethin' to get off my chest
My life gets kinda boring
Need somethin' that I can confess
'Til all my sleeves are stained red
From all the truth that I've said
Come by it honestly, I swear
Thought you saw me wink, no
I've been on the brink

So tell me what you want to hear
Somethin' that'll light those ears
I'm sick of all the insincere
So I'm gonna give all my secrets away
This time, don't need another perfect lie
Don't care if critics ever jump in line
I'm gonna give all my secrets away

My God, amazing how we got this far
It's like we're chasin' all those stars
Who's drivin' shiny, big, black cars
And everyday I see the news
All the problems, bet we could solve 'em
When a situation rises
Just write it into an album
Send it straight to gold
But I don't really like my flow, no

So tell me what you want to hear
Somethin' that'll light those ears
I'm sick of all the insincere
So I'm gonna give all my secrets away
This time, don't need another perfect lie
Don't care if critics ever jump in line
I'm gonna give all my secrets away

Ooh, got no reason, got no shame
Got no family I can blame
Just don't let me disappear
I'ma tell you everything

So tell me what you want to hear
Somethin' that'll light those ears
I'm sick of all the insincere
So I'm gonna give all my secrets away
This time, don't need another perfect lie
Don't care if critics ever jump in line
I'm gonna give all my secrets away

So tell me what you want to hear
Somethin' that'll light those ears
I'm sick of all the insincere
So I'm gonna give all my secrets away
This time, don't need another perfect lie
Don't care if critics ever jump in line
I'm gonna give all my secrets away

All my secrets away
All my secrets away

    My Interpretation

I believe this song is about an unfaithful relationship. With all the guilt and insincere feelings, he wants to come clean because he finally has come to the realization of what he has at home and wants to end this fling.

"I need another story Something to get off my chest"

.....means, one last time he will meet up with the mistress to end the affair before he confessess to his wife/girlfriend of his affair because he feels so guilty.

"Till all my sleeves are stained red From all the truth that I've said"

....means, he knows what he is going to say to his wife/girlfriend is going to hurt her, but in the end it is better to tell the truth than keep a secret.

"Thought you saw me wink, no, I've been on the brink, so"

.....means he's been living a lie. Ready to crack because the guilt has eatten him up so bad that he is on guard and is worried that his wife/girlfriend may have known something was going on and he is afraid he is going to lose everything for not telling her the truth.

    The Chorus:

.....means, he wants her to ask questions. He wants to be honest over every lie he ever told and wants to save his relationship. He doesn't care who critisizes him for being truthful and following his heart.

"My God, amazing how we got this far It's like were chasing all those stars Whose driver shining big black cars"

.....means time has gone by since he confessed everything to his wife/ girlfriend and they both are doing better than they ever were, because of the truth.

"And every day I see the news All the problems, bet we could solve them When a situation rises Just write it into an album Send it straight to gold But I don't really like my flow, no"

...... means, there are bigger problems in the world that we can not fix, but we can fix our own issues within ourselves. When we think our issues are huge, just look at the world's issues. There will always be someone worse off than you are!

"Got no reason, got no shame Got no family I can blame Just don't let me disappear I'ma tell you everything, so"

.........means, he can not blame anyone for his poor choices, he can only blame himself. He doesn't want his wife/girlfriend to turn her back on him, because he truly loves her and wants them both to work thru this.

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"
