Take a breath
Hold it in
Start a fight
You won't win
Had enough
Let's begin
Nevermind
I don't care

All in all
You're no good
You don't cry
Like you should
Let it go
If you could
When love dies in the end

So I'll find what lies beneath
Your sick twisted smile
As I lay underneath
Your cold jaded eyes
Now you turn the tide on me
'Cause you're so unkind
I will always be here
For the rest of my life

Here we go
Does it hurt
Say goodbye
to this world
I will not
Be undone
Come to life
It gets worse

All in all
You're no good
You don't cry
Like you should
I'll be gone
when you fall
Your sad life
Says it all

So I'll find what lies beneath
Your sick twisted smile
As I lay underneath
Your cold jaded eyes
Now you turn the tide on me
'Cause you're so unkind
I will always be here
For the rest of my life

Don't carry me under
You're the devil in disguise
God sing for the hopeless
I'm the one you left behind

So I'll find what lies beneath
Your sick twisted smile
As I lay underneath
Your cold jaded eyes
Now you turn the tide on me
'Cause you're so unkind
I will always be here
For the rest of my life

My Opinion:The song matches alot of descriptions but a theme all of theyre songs match is betrayal, which is ironic since their going through court issues with their previouse band mates.

My Interpretation:When I listen to the lyrics I think of a couple that don't really love each other and fight alot both verbally and physically, but they still stay together because they think they are in love. Finally the guy realizes he has to do something and this is based on their relationship and him ending it. Thats just my interpretation.

General Comment:I think that this song is about rape..

"So I'll find what lies beneath
    Your sick twisted smile
    As I lay underneath
    Your cold jaded eyes
Now you turn the tide on me
    'Cause you're so unkind
    I will always be here
For the rest of my life"

This is the victims point of view on the rape, "I will always be here for the rest of my life" is the victims trauma and how she/he will never be able to get the memory out of his/her mind.

    "All in all
    You're no good
    You don't cry
    Like you should
    I'll be gone
    when you fall
    Your sad life
    Says it all"

This is the description of the rapist, someone depressed and no good. The victim is saying that he/she wont be around when the rapist gets punished.

    "Don't carry me under
    You're the devil in disguise
    God sing for the hopeless
I'm the one you left behind"

The victim is staying strong and wont let this incident corrupt him/her or take him/her away from god and religion. The victim didn't allow the rapist to control every part of him/her, he/she kept their mind and the rapist was unable to change who they are.

Song Meaning:In my opinion he is talking about the spiritual fight between God and Satan

    Take a breath
    Hold it in
Start a fight Satan talking to God
You won't win He is cocky and doesn't think he will lose
Had enough Satan takes over the world
Let's begin The battle of all battles
Nevermind Satan knows he is going to lose
I don't care He knows whats done has been done.

All in all God is everything
You're no good He allows so many to suffer
You don't cry God doesn't cry
Like you should Although he should with everyone suffering
Let it go But God is patiently waiting
If you could This is Satan enticing God
When love dies in the end Satan believes he will win, and love will die.

So I'll find what lies beneath Satan is searching for the upper hand (developing an army)
Your sick twisted smile God has been known to go to drastic measures for compliance
As I lay underneath Satan was sent to Earth which is below heaven
Your cold jaded eyes God's watchful eye
Now you turn the tide on me This is when God triumphs against Satan
'Cause you're so unkind Satan crying out for mercy
I will always be here For an eternity Satan will roam Earth
For the rest of my life Until God puts him in hell

Here we go Talking about the battle
Does it hurt That so many root for evil, and not good
Say goodbye Satan thinks he has it
    to this world
I will not He will never change his ways.
    Be undone
Come to life He is challenging God.
    It gets worse

    All in all
    You're no good
    You don't cry
    Like you should
I'll be gone Satan will undoubtedly leave it all up to God to fix
when you fall Satan is still thinks he will win
Your sad life Enticing God again
    Says it all

So I'll find what lies beneath This is the same as before
    Your sick twisted smile
    As I lay underneath
    Your cold jaded eyes
Now you turn the tide on me
    'Cause you're so unkind
    I will always be here
For the rest of my life

Don't carry me under Satan pleading with God
You're the devil in disguise God is creator of everything including the devil
God sing for the hopeless Satan challenging God once again
I'm the one you left behind Satan is without hope and tells him I am the one you left behind

So I'll find what lies beneath Like I previously mentioned.
    Your sick twisted smile
    As I lay underneath
    Your cold jaded eyes
Now you turn the tide on me
    'Cause you're so unkind
    I will always be here
For the rest of my life Satan will not give up this power struggle.

General Comment:Well, ever since i heard that song, frankly one notion snapped my attention, in particular.
that a man, is looking into the mirror, after a depressing life, that he had going, he neither hints, nor spoke. Was calm and tolerating for quite a while, and that day he held the mirror, clearly saw his reflection in the eyes at the mirror, and no longer recognizes himself, what he've become... i thinks that hints that he got possessed by a demon, but ill exclude this for the explanatory demands :P, what would make the song freaking powerful, that he's that devil disguised in himself, and he keeps everything cool laughing, and just get cold. 'so ill find what lies beneath, your sick twisted smile as i lay underneath, your cold jaded eyes' whilst looking at the mirror. 'all in all...', ONE OF MY BEST BREAKING BENJAMIN'S
CAN'T HELP LISTENING TO IT EVERYDAY.

My Interpretation:I personally think this song is about rape.

    "Take a breath
    Hold it in
    Start a fight
    You won't win
    Had enough
    Let's begin
    Nevermind
    I don't care

    All in all
    You're no good
    You don't cry
    Like you should
    Let it go
    If you could
When love dies in the end"

He's daring her to fight him, and then belittling her. I think the "when love dies in the end" could refer to the victim feeling isolated and not being able to express her love for anyone afterward, OR the attacker was someone she trusted and loved.

"So I'll find what lies beneath
    Your sick twisted smile
    As I lay underneath
    Your cold jaded eyes
Now you turn the tide on me
    'Cause you're so unkind
    I will always be here
For the rest of my life"

This is what the victim is thinking. He turned the tide on her by doing this and she knows her life is never gonna be the same so she'll always be where she is. I guess it could also be referring to he aftermath and she feels like she'll never heal.

    "Here we go
    Does it hurt
    Say goodbye
    to this world
    I will not
    Be undone
    Come to life
    It gets worse

    All in all
    You're no good
    You don't cry
    Like you should
    I'll be gone
    when you fall
    Your sad life
    Says it all"

He's in mid-act, almost mocking her asking if it hurts, and telling her to say goodbye to the world she knows because it won't ever be the same. He's almost getting a power trip off of it. and again, the second part is just belitting her. Him saying "your sad life says it all" is another allusion to the aftermath of rape and how she will be fucked up for a while.

the chorus again is what she's thinking, and the bridgeything of
    "Don't carry me under
    You're the devil in disguise
    God sing for the hopeless
I'm the one you left behind"

is also her thinking. It's clearly someone she trusted, the devil in disguise, and she's crying out to god and feeling like he's forsaken her by allowing this to happen.

just my two cents but this is how I interpreted it.

General Comment:it's about two people who used to care about each other but now have become enemies, but one thinks that he can get through to the other and save them

'take a breath, hold it in
start a fight you won't win'
they are really fighting, this is a big betrayal of their past

    'had enough, let's begin
    never mind i don't care'
they're trying not to care about killing each other

'all in all you're no good
you don't cry like you should
let it go if you could
when love dies in the end'
the evil one insists they don't care any more

'so i'll find what lies beneath your sick twisted smile
as i lie underneath your cold jaded eyes'
the good one is trying to believe the other can be saved even when they're torturing him

now you turn the tide on me cos you're so unkind
i will always be here for the rest of my life'
the good one is punished (imprisoned) for the other one's crime

'here we go does it hurt
    say goodbye to this world'
this is again during their fight when they're killing each other

    'i will not be undone
come to life it gets worse'
the good one is being beaten but keeps trying, he can't even die to escape the torture

i'll be gone when you fall
your sad life says it all'
the evil one injures the other and leaves them in this huge mess

the next chorus is again about the good one trying to believe his friend can be saved

    'don't carry me under'
    basically don't destroy me
    'you're the devil in disguise'
the good one is losing his faith
    'God sing for the hopeless'
he's trying so hard but all that has been done to him is destroying him even without the presence of his friend who has run off and left him
'I'm the one you left behind'
he comes face to face with the other and tells him how much he hurt him

i realise i keep using 'he' it's because i immediately think of two brothers on opposing sides, randomly

General Comment:anthem of the angels describes benjamin's pain for losing that dying person then in lights out i think it's a struggle inside his mind...he's trying to numb himself "I can't afford to care"
Dear agony talks about benjamin begging pain to leave him...
Into the nothing (he dedicates this song to soldiers) but he mentioned that it is for all those who feel they're going into nothing and i believe it serves the sequence as if his mind is too tired and he's actually losing it
in without you he wants his feelings, mind and agony back for he realizes he can't face the dark (problems and life in general) without them

    General Comment:I don't believe it's about a relationship
the whole album is about death...from 2 perspectives...one from the person actually dying and the other from the one who is by his side
this song is the end of the dying person's perspective....fade away,i will not bow, crawl all represent the time when he learns that he's dying soon (of a disease)and fighting against it....give me a sign is like a prayer...he's losing his faith and he needs a sign to make him strong again.
hopeless and what lies beneath describe what happens after his death and i think they reveal that this person made many bad things in his life that it led him straight to hell...seeing what he got himself into he blames the devil for what happened to him
So I'll find what lies beneath
    Your sick twisted smile
    As I lay underneath
    Your cold jaded eyes
Now you turn the tide on me
    'Cause you're so unkind
    I will always be here
For the rest of my life
