  General Comment:The song is definitely about coming out of the closet and gay sex. Seriously, read the lyrics thinking that and you'll realize how obvious it is. Pretty much the same thing you can apply to about half of 3 Days Grace songs. Easily interpreted into meanings like that. Struck me the first time I heard Animal I've Become.... The man was bored with his normal life and always wanted to try this 'one thing' before he died. He doesn't know who he really is so he is taking his stand, and taking it firmly... He always wanted it that way

  My Interpretation:I think this song is about wanting a better life and maybe getting over being depressed or whatever they may have going on.
  At the end it could be like it didnt turn out the way they wanted it too.

    I agree with you. I would add that the person in the song who attempts to find a good life is misguided when doing so. Because the focus on finding the good life is to have a good time, things like misusing alcohaul, sex, and drugs probably happened to the person in his attempt to find the good life. Thus, the sttempt to find the good life probably made him worse off then before.

  General Comment:Pretty simple.
  I think it's about a guy who's tired of his shitty life (bowing down to others for example - "too many people stepping over me", and being insecure etc. - "i don't really know who i am") and wants to finally change it for the better ("it's time for me to take a stand" and "all i want is a little of the good life").
  However in the bridge it looks like after experiencing some of "the good life" he's beginning to doubt if it's as desirable as he first thought (i always wanted it this way/i never wanted it this way").

    See I agree with you for alot of that, but I don't think the change was for the better. Because his change to the good life involves primarily "haveing a good time" it seems to me that the misuse of drugs, sex, and alcohaul are what "the good life" in this song portrays.
    
    An actual good life almost always involves hard work and sacrificing temperary satisfaction in order to make your future better. If someone is looking for the good life, and their only goal is to have a good time, they probably won't really have a good life.

  My Interpretation:This is probably my favorite song off of the album; here's my interpretation.
  
  "The good life is
  What I need
  Too many people
  Stepping over me
  The only thing that's
  Been on my mind
  Is the one thing before I die"
  
  I believe that the song is about a middle/lower class person who wants a richer life, like money and fame, not particularly drugs and alcohol. I found this in the lines "Too many people steppin' over me"
  
  "All I want is a little of
  The good life
  All I need is to have
  A good time
  The good life"
  
  This reinforces the above position to me, but getting a bit obsessive about it. He also seems to be a bit sad/depressed about his current life, shown in "Have a good time".
  
  "I don't really know
  Who I am
  It's time for me
  To take a stand
  I need a change and
  I need it fast
  I know that any day
  Could be the last"
  
  This could be that he is having fun with the good life, but is having trouble remembering his old self, possibly even losing his values. That, or he quickly needs to change from his old life to preserve himself.

  Now they feel uneasy about what they've done, getting indecisive. The "I always/never wanted it this way" is his mind arguing about his decision and is trying to make a decision.
  
  I'm a bit tired, so the interpretation isn't as good as it normally would be.

  Song Meaning:Listening to the song it seems very sarcastic.
  "All I want is a little of The good life All I need is to have A good time"
  
  I immediately think of people who throw themselves into sex, drugs, and alcohaul as "Wanting a little of the good life, and "Just needing to have a good time". He even brings up the common excuse of "any day could be my last", which is a common excuse that people who get into lots of sex, drugs and alcohaul love to use.
  
  At the end of the song is when the confusion of the mind is kicking in, "Hold on Hold on, I always wanted it this way, I never wanted it this way". I think that the meaning of the song is that a bit of the "good life" is not worth destroying your whole life for.
  
  This may very well be my favorite song off of the new album!

    I'll even take it a bit further. The confusion you refer to seems to be amplified by the fact that Adam sings "always" while the backing vocals sing "never" (at least that's how I remember it). That's basically saying that he's conflicted with himself - on the surface he says it's okay but inside he's screaming that it's not. It's his conscience talking to him, and he's battling himself over it. He doesn't want to acknowledge that he has the wrong idea of what the 'good life' really is.
    
    I agree with you on the meaning. Great job.
