Lyrics for Feeling Sorry as interpreted by electricheart

Feeling Sorry Lyrics
We still live in the same town
Well, don't we?
But I don't see you around anymore
I go to all the same places
Not even a trace of you
Your days are numbered at twenty-four

And I'm getting bored, waiting around for you
We're not getting any younger
And I won't look back, 'cause there's no use
It's time to move forward

I feel no sympathy
You live inside a cave
You barely get by
The rest of us are trying
There's no need to apologize
I've got no time for feeling sorry

But I try not to think of what might happen
When your reality, it finally cuts through
Well, as for me, I got out and I'm on the road
The worst part is that this, this could be you

And you know it, too
You can't run from your shame
You're not getting any younger
Time keeps passing by
But you wave it away
It's time to roll over

I feel no sympathy
You live inside a cave
You barely get by
The rest of us are trying
There's no need to apologize
I've got no time for feeling sorry

And all the best lies
They are told with fingers tight
So cross them tight
Won't you promise me tonight
If it's the last thing you do, you'll get out?

I feel no sympathy
You live inside a cage
You barely get by
The rest of us are trying
There's no need to apologize
Got no time
Got no time

I feel no sympathy
You live inside a cage
You barely get by
The rest of us are trying
There's no need to apologize
Got no time
I've got no time for feeling sorry
I've got no time for feeling sorry

It's "you wave it away," not "waited"

It's not about Josh.
Hayley's not brutal like that.

It's probably about someone else from her past that really effected her...

That makes me think it's probably a former band member, not a past boyfriend or anything...
Just a thought though.

yeah, it's about those people you were once best friends with, and twice a year you get a myspace comment "omg i miss you let's catch up." and you never do.
and then you never talk to them, ever again.

it's ridiculous.
this album is amazing, every song.

It's about Hunter. He left the band just before they went mainstream with Riot! His age at the time of the album release will be 24.

I'm leaning towards Jason rather than Hunter... Didn't Hunter leave to get married? Why would someone hold a grudge over that? Besides, the line "we still live in the same town" leads me to believe it's Jason as he was/is Hayley's next door neighbour...

maybe it's about a few people?
I mean
"Well, as for me, I got out and I'm on the road
The worst part is that this, this could be you
And you know it, too"
kinda says it's about someone that is no longer in the band

but the beginning bit
"We still live in the same town
Well, don't we?
But I don't see you around anymore
I go to all the same places"
could say that it was about Jeremy because I swear I read somewhere that after the end of the last tour they went back to Franklin and didn't speak for weeks.

would you consider it a heartbreak or love song or both?

I think this song is just about people who shelter themselves in general. The "this could be you" line, doesn't have to necessary mean "you could be on the road with us", but "you could be living your dreams, too". Atleast that's what I think.

This song could be about more then one person.maybe its about jason or hunter when they left the band.but it could just be a general idea of the people that you were close to when you drift apart and leave each other and then at times remember them and wonder what happened.

I'm pretty sure it's about Hunter or Jason, probably Hunter because it sounds like it didn't really end in good terms.

"We still live in the same town
Well, don't we?
But I don't see you around anymore
I go to all the same places
Not even a trace of you"

Maybe after he left the band, they still had the intentions of staying friends, or he had lead onto it, and she kept that hope for a little while, but she's kind of given up on him now.

"I feel no sympathy
You live inside a cage
You barely get by
The rest of us are trying
There's no need to apologize
I've got no time for feeling sorry"

Maybe music was his dream, but he wasn't working out with the band and never attempted to fix his problems with them or get with another band. She's saying she knows she would be heart-broken if something like that happened to her, but he didn't even try, so what's the point of feeling sorry for him?

I don't know, that's how I see this song. But all of the good artists make their songs to where they can mean any number of things, so who knows?

to me, and I'm probably wrong, it sounds like someone held on to what happened between them and Hayley and she's waiting for them to apologize but they're taking to long so she's just forgot about it and doesn't care anymore

"And I'm getting bored, waiting around for you
We're not getting any younger
And I won't look back, 'cause there's no use
It's time to move forward"

and she's already let go of her grudge towards this person or something

"Well, as for me, I got out and I'm on the road
The worst part is that this, this could be you

And you know it, too
You can't run from your shame
You're not getting any younger
Time keeps passing by
But you waited away
It's time to roll over" and

"I feel no sympathy
You live inside a cage
You barely get by
The rest of us are trying
There's no need to apologize
Got no time
Got no time" No this part sounds like some former member is trying to apologize for leaving the band but she and the guys have already moved on and this person is stuck "inside a cage" because they waited to long and no one cares anymore.
