Lyrics for Eloise as interpreted by GlriusBlnknDshWrld

Eloise Lyrics
Laid out
puking in the back of a
fancy bar
you and your friends in the
front booth
laughing at my sweet naivete
and its awkward gravity
Messiah complex
led a fickle flu,
to see its antidote and end in you...
and now I’m gonna leave you.

Eloise, Eloise
You never meant that much to me
Baby Please
let Go my Eloise
Let it bleed let it freeze
and fall apart in front of me
my Eloise
you took the world from me

So beautiful
the ugliness w/in you
last of three
baby of the family
spoiled to bits
and rotten to the shining
core of you
and mad w/ power
i've seen corrupt
the leaders of this nation
stricken w/ the sickly imitation
of a love the lord w/ never stitch
you've got my cake its
time to dine on the rich

Eloise, Eloise
You never meant that much to me
Baby Please let Go my Eloise
Let it bleed let it freeze
and fall apart in front of me
my Eloise

band aid
just a bloody bandaid
thats all i ever really was to you Eloise
a soldier w/ a syndrome
and dreams of childrens screams
you molded you shaped
like a god who loathed to create

band aids
two infected bandaids
that's all we really were to each other Eloise
a couple of stupid kids
throwing a ball back and forth
to see who drops it first.

Eloise, Eloise
You never meant that much to me
Baby Please let Go my Eloise
Let it bleed let it freeze
and fall apart in front of me
my Eloise
you took the world from me
You took the world from me
you took the world from me
you took the world from me
you took the world from me.

I'm pretty sure these are the correct lyrics... just wrote them out:

Laid out, puking in the back of a fancy bar.
You and your friends in the front booth,
laughing at my sweet naivety; and its awkward gravity.
Three years, saw the decimation of the world in you.
Messiah complex led a fickle flu, to see its antidote and end in you...
and now I’m gonna leave you.

Eloise, Eloise,
you never meant that much to me
Baby please let go, my Eloise
Let it breed, let it freeze and fall apart in front of me.
My Eloise, you talk the world from me.

So beautiful, the ugliness within you.
Last of three, baby of the family;
spoiled to bits, and rotten to the shining core of you.
And mad with power I’ve seen corrupt, the leaders of this nation
Stricken with, the sickly imitation of a love, the Lord would never stitch
You’ve got my cake, it’s time to dine on the rich

Eloise, Eloise,
you never meant that much to me
Baby please let go, my Eloise
Let it breed, let it freeze and fall apart in front of me.
My Eloise, you talk the world from me.

[Spoke]
Band-Aid, just a bloody Band-Aid. That’s all I ever really was to you Eloise.
A soldier with a syndrome, the dreams of childrens’ screams.
You molded, you shaped, like a god who loathed to create.
Two Band-Aids, two infected Band-Aids, that’s all we really were to each other Eloise.
A couple of stupid kids, throwing a ball back and forth, to see who drops it first!

Eloise, Eloise, you never meant that much to me.
Baby please let go, my Eloise
Let it breed, let it freeze and fall apart in front of me.
My Eloise, you talk the world from me.
You talk the world from me
You talk the world from me
You talk the world from me
You talk the world from me.

the ugliness w/in you

does it really kill you to type out 2 more characters? you added a / so you only needed 2 more.
ugh.

I bet i'm going to be disappointed when these songs aren't acoustic anymore >.<

Ok, so let's clear this up. The song is not about a person who has done you wrong. It's about recovery. Eloise is a fill in the blank, whether it be alcohol, drugs, sex. basically it's about admitting your addiction and getting the courage to let go of it, and recover from the damage it has done to you and you're loved ones. "And mad with power I’ve seen corrupt, the leaders of this nation
Stricken with, the sickly imitation of a love, the Lord would never stitch" one of my favorite lines. the sickly imitation of a love the lord would never stitch is a reference to the self-fabricated "love" of the thing you are addicted to. the power that has been seen corrupting leaders of the nation is the sense of invincibility that you get from your high, and i myself being an addict, can completely relate with this.

think fast killer.

this song is so powerful to me.
i love max. i love how he writes and what he relates to.

i definitely think it's about a person
but could be replaced for all those sick addictions we acquire.

the spoken part is my favorite.
especially the very end where he yells "just to see who drops it first!"
i don't know. there's so much emotion in that.

I fell in love with the acoustic version and I was dreading the album version thinking it would be spoiled, but it's so good.

I also like crimsonsky39's interpretation, you gave me a whole new way to look at this song.

"This is a song I wrote at the tail-end of the relationship that was chronicled on our last record. This is the only song on this record that really references that time as the relationship was over and I began writing for this record. I was going through the stage with this person where you're trying to be cordial and be friends, but it's too weird and you both eventually just have to cut it off--or one person has to. In this particular instance, this relationship was really unhealthy and had a really negative effect on me and my self-worth. Cutting off this relationship was a spiritual act of self-empowerment. When you listen to In Defense Of The Genre, you can tell that there was more to it than just being someone's fault. It had to do with me placing myself in a situation because I felt bad about myself or felt bad about things in society. I wanted to solve the world's problems by trying to help this one person and help them overcome certain things that they just never would. The cool thing about "Eloise" is that it's not just a break-up song, but a getting-over-a-girl song. It talks a lot about why we even get into these types of relationships and why letting go of them is such a good idea in terms of the biggest scope of spirituality and society. This is kind of a running theme on the record. While most songs on the record can be explained simply, there's more to each song, and they talk about the grander issues in life. This was definitely my closure song as well as my new-beginning song. Because there has to be closure to the relationship before there can be a new beginning with someone else."

this is from AP magazines website, max explains all the songs track by track.

Thank you ohtess for posting that, because I couldn't help but laugh at whoever thought this song was about drugs or recovery or anything other than getting over a break up and moving the fuck on from something that shouldn't have been anything to begin with. Though crimsonsky I don't discredit your explanation at the bottom of your post, but it is most definitely about getting over an ex, and it really is empowering as I'm going through a similar situation.
