I'm not surprised
Not everything lasts
I've broken my heart so many times
I stopped keeping track
Talk myself in
I talk myself out
I get all worked up
Then I let myself down

I tried so very hard not to lose it
I came up with a million excuses
I thought I thought of every possibility

And I know someday that it'll all turn out
You'll make me work so we can work to work it out
And I promise you kid that I'll give so much more than I get
I just haven't met you yet

I might have to wait
I'll never give up
I guess it's half timing
And the other half's luck
Wherever you are
Whenever it's right
You'll come out of nowhere
And into my life

And I know that we can be so amazing
And baby your love is gonna change me
And now I can see every possibility

And somehow I know that it'll all turn out
And you'll make me work so we can work to work it out
And promise you kid I'll give so much more than I get
I just haven't met you yet

They say all's fair in love and war
But I won't need to fight it
We'll get right
And we'll be united

And I know that we can be so amazing
And being in your life is gonna change me
And now I can see every single possibility

And someday I know it'll all turn out
And I'll work to work it out
Promise you kid I'll give more than I get
Than I get
Than I get
Than I get

Oh you know it'll all turn out
And you'll make me work so we can work to work it out
And promise you kid to give so much more than I get
Yeah I just haven't met you yet

I just haven't met you yet
Oh promise you kid to give so much more than I get

(I said love love love love love love love love)
I just haven't met you yet
(Love love love love love love)
Such a good day yeah
I just haven't met you yet

General Comment:This is such a wonderful song. It's about a guy who is ready to give everything he has to the girl, and she's just so perfect, and the only problem is that he's yet to meet her!

My Interpretation:I’m convinced that this song is about his wife being pregnant and he’s talking about what his life with his new son/daughter will be like. For instance, when he says, “I’ll give so much more than I get”; newborn babies and even just kids in general aren’t always easy to parent, so he’s saying that he knows it’s going to be hard, but he’s willing to work for it. He also wouldn’t refer to a love interest as “kid”, which is also what leads me to think he really is singing about his child. He also starts the song saying that he doesn’t really want to have kids, but he’s gonna do it anyway. It sounds like his wife really wants to have kids, but he doesn’t so much. He’s convincing himself that it’s gonna work out and it’ll be great. Then, it wraps it up when he says, “I just haven’t met you yet”. Of course he hasn’t met a kid that hasn’t been born yet. So, that’s my interpretation of the meaning, but I could be wrong.

General Comment:This is a beautiful song. We just heard it tonight when my family went out to dinner. It was performed by a musician in the restaurant with an acoustic guitar and he did such an excellent job. It's obviously about keeping your spirits up until you meet the right person. I had to look up the video when I got home and I love it. Very beautiful girl playing the part of his "love-to-be". She's about as close to perfect as you can get.

General Comment:In Michael Bublé’s song “Just Haven’t Met You Yet”, he expresses his feeling of hope of finding the right girl for him, even after having so many ended relationships that have left him heartbroken. In this song, he talks about his desire to make his relationship with the right girl last. This song encourages us not to give up and to stay positive during even the most heartbreaking cases of relationship.

The beginning of this song is Michael Bublé talks about having his heart broken many times and trying to get too worked up about it. There’s a line in the song that says “And I know someday that it’ll all turn out” (10) and that’s him showing that he hasn’t given up yet. Then in the next stanza it says “You’ll make me work, so we can work to work it out” (11). In this stanza he is talking about working really hard in the relationship that he’ll have with the right girl so that he doesn’t have to go through another break up again. The beginning of this song, I think, is elegiac. He seems sad about getting his heart broken. I think the rest of the song is hortatory because it’s encouraging and positive.

I think that this song is postmodernism because it is a personal song. The things Michael Bublé is singing about is not a universal truth, it’s personal. It’s how he thinks about his own life and how he chooses to live it.
