Ratta, Tat, Tat, while they shootin like that?[x4]

They’re all gonna get it in the end[x4]

Ratta, Tat, Tat, while they shootin like that?

The rhymes that I rock
I gotta rap for Iraq
Taking up the slack
till the troops come back
Inside Iraq with a helmet for a hat
Machine Guns gunning
Regime starts running
It seems I’m done and
Seems so stunning
See a man shooting at me
He a man just like me
With a fam just like me
Don’t understand why he dislike me?
Then again, he could be my friend
And deep in the kin with the same color skin
It doesn’t matter whose side you choose
Cause in the end we’re all gonna lose
Oh well, WAR is hell

Just another CRAZY war story to tell, yell

[Chorus]

Bullets flying
(Ratta, Tat, Tat, while they shootin like that?)
People dying
(Ratta, Tat, Tat, while they shootin like that?)
Bombs keep dropping
(Ratta, Tat, Tat, while they shootin like that?)
On our children
(Ratta, Tat, Tat, while they shootin like that?)
Bullets flying
(They’re all gonna get it in the end)
People dying
(They’re all gonna get it in the end)
Bombs keep dropping
(They’re all gonna get it in the end)
On our children
(They’re all gonna get it in the end)

Mama, Mama, they’re taking me away
They ain’t trying to hear what Jimmy gotta say
Papa, Papa, I’m trying to be a man
In a foreign land with a machine gun in my hand
Politics and this is what I get
Presidents and this is what I get
Delegates and this is what I get
I wanna represent, but it is making me sick
They say that they feel for me
But their reality, isn’t real for me
For democracy, they say steal for me
Give me a gun and say kill for me
I’m insane you insane who sane who sane we’re insane
Oh, well, war, is hell

(MONOLOGUE)

I was the third desk over on the thirteenth floor,
When blood and fuel leveled down my door.
You could have watched me freefall and screamed and burned
But you watched and learned
I was on the thirteenth row, of flight 13,
Sitting, sweating, waiting to be slammed
Unmercifully into the side of my destiny
I am the 13th brick on the pyramid on the dollar bill
I am the 3rd story from the sun
The 3rd bullet shot from my gun, from the 13th regiment, in the 3rd platoon
But now I come back with 3 fingers,
But I really only need one to tell you how I feel

Bullets flying
People dying
Bombs keep dropping
On our children
Bullets flying
(They’re all gonna get it in the end)
People dying
(They’re all gonna get it in the end)
Bombs keep dropping
(They’re all gonna get it in the end)
On our children
(They’re all gonna get it in the end)

They’re all gonna get it in the end...

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.
