Rise above the crowd, and wade through toxic clouds
Breach the outer sphere
The edge of all our fears
Rest with you
We are counting on you, it's down to you
Spread our codes to the stars
You must rescue us all
Spread our codes to the stars
You must rescue us all
Tell us, tell us your final wish?
Now we know you can never return
Tell us, tell us your final wish?
We will tell it to the world
Breach the outer sphere
The edge of all our fears
Rest with you
We are counting on you, it's down to you
Spread our codes to the stars
You must rescue us all
Spread our codes to the stars
You must rescue us all
Tell us, tell us your final wish?
Now we know you can never return
Tell us, tell us your final wish?
We will tell it to the world

Matt Bellamy has created a complete masterpiece. What I would give to be inside that man's head.
They try to rest their hope in a small group attempting to save them, but most people are too scared to go for themselves.
Anyway, this whole album basically is the book brought to life. I'm not kidding. Go read it, then listen to this album. The similarities are incredible!
In the book, very simply put, the main character is the engineer and creator of a spaceship designed to travel to other planets and dominate. However, he meets a woman whom he falls in love with and completely changes his views on everything (she's part of a rebellion against the 'One State' government). I don't want to spoil the book, but wow, any Muse fan should READ THIS BOOK!
I love it, and I love Muse.
The 1st part of the symphony he`s doing those humanity`s questions as "what are we doing here" And he´s asking that to God.
the 2nd part, he´s looking for an answer from God, a salvation, (here we check the title "cross" as the cristian symbol of salvation), asking Him, what we should do to, what does He want us to do.
The 3th part, as a sign of "redention", he´s demanding God an new chance to fix what we´ve done wrong and admiting He´s the one who can save us now...
It's not like sci-fi stories are foreign concepts to Muse albums (Black Holes and Revelations, anyone?). And these lyrics scream sci-fi.
Rise above the crowds
Wade through toxic clouds
Breach the outer sphere
The edge of all our fears rest with you
We are counting on you,
It's up to you
Astronauts taking off and leaving the earth. That makes sense.
Spread our codes to the stars,
You must rescue us all
This song is called Cross Pollination. Cross pollination is usually talking about mating one flower with another flower. However, it makes sense that it would mean breeding species from one planet on another planet.
Tell us
Tell us your final wish,
Now we know you can never return
Tell us
Tell us your final wish,
We will tell it to the world
Asking the astronauts if they have anything they want to tell the world, since the astronauts won't be returning and everyone on earth is screwed.
I think the lyrics are pretty straightforward, really.
As for part 3, I don't believe it's the people begging the astronauts or greater beings to take them, and allow them a fresh start. They apologize for their mistakes and "promise to get it right".
I've never been so moved by a lyricist and singer such as Bellamy. I cannot wait to see them in concert. Shame that they were only on the east coast this recent tour with U2.
