You said goodnight,
Wrapped your scarf up tight,
And left into a winter scene.

The Lower East Side,
Is just a place to hide,
A place to privately dream.

Good times and lost nights on Avenue A,
Don't let the bright lights take you away.
You just can't believe what the city folks say,
My lady of Avenue A.

These old downtown streets,
Where lovers meet,
To sometimes laugh, to sometimes cry

A strange parade,
All new things fade,
But somehow this place stays the same.

Good times and lost nights on Avenue A,
Don't let the bright lights take you away.
You just can't believe what the city folks say,
My lady of Avenue A.

You fall asleep,
I hear you breathe,
The snow outside,
I make some tea.
The cat's awake,
And plays with string,
As I slip into a dream.

Good times and lost nights on Avenue A,
Don't let the bright lights take you away.
You just can't believe what the city folks say,
My lady of Avenue A.

    Memory

It was a cold November night in Baltimore. Amanda and I sealed Our Friendship. A certain Southern Rock band out of the Empire/Civil War/Peach city of Atlanta in the sacred state of Georgia-The Black Crowes-they'll always be. Right in the middle of the performance as Richard open-tunes his Fender as his brother Christopher sings a Sad Dixie Melody-Lady of Avenue A it is called. The bird sings it with such sadness that Amanda and I hug and embrace each other-I sing to Amanda these words and that poetry is the Dixie Truth. Rams Head Live turns into a gospel blues church-"Good times and lost nights on Avenue A/Don't let the bright lights take you away/You just can't believe what the city folks say/My Lady of Avenue A!" We Both Smile and Cry all at once. Amanda and I are happily never the same again. Now she is my Job Coach. Black Crowes Rock Forever. The Rebel South Will Rise Again!
