  General Comment:Ok, first of all, everyone needs to chill, just cuz you like imogen heap better doesn't mean you have to get pissed. Second, obviously some people think Jason DeRulo has talent because he's ridiculously rich. And finally, he does actually have some talent and originality seeing as he is a song writer who wrote his first song when he was 8.

    It's understandable to want to stop the hating because the rediculous squabble comming from both sides of this arguement gets very annoying very quickly, but if you have listened to the original song by Imogen Heap and have felt the emotions she is expressing in her lyrics, it is somewhat crushing to hear such strong words used in a carless manner.
    
    In the original song, these words were spoken with spite, her attempt to reject the reality that has been so suddenly thrown upon her. In Derulo's sense, the words are lowered to seem as if the girl is actually forgiving him for all the terrible things he's done to her. Personally, I'd think that any guy who's just chead on me and is now trying to make me love him again by rapping Imogen Heap lyrics is either a sap or completely deranged...
    
    I understand that this song is really catchy and well liked by the people that defend it, and that pop and hip hop are just alot more popular (especially in my hometown in south Alabama) than the indie/ electronica music Immi is known for. I also know that in a few years, almost no one will remember Derulo or this song unless he were to be shot down in rain of bullets or die from OD-ing on a mix of oxycotin and viagra. That's just the way mainstream music media works these days.
    
    As for the songwriting thing, writing a song when you're 8 doesn't exactly make you good at it. My 7 year old nephew graced me with his latest creation entitled "My day". Most of the song consisted of him jumping around sreaming "I LIKE CHEESE!!" That boy sure does love his cheddar....
    
    As I'm pretty sure you know by now, I am in fact an Immi/ Frou Frou fan (and I'm black too!), but that should in no way change the perspective of this meditation.

  General Comment:For the first time today, I actually *listened* to this song. I know it's only a silly Top 40 song, but WTF?

  This guy's probably an egotistical jerk. If he himself sees that he was only looking out for himself, then I'm pretty damn sure he was a douche.

  Probably as a result of his own conceit, he treats his spouse poorly. If you wanted to be with someone forever, I'm pretty sure mistreating them is not the way to go.

  >> Though you caught me cheatin'
  
  Aah, the truth comes out! He was not only a self-centered ass, but a cheater too!
  
  "Give me another chance" he says. And in desperation he cries, "But when I become a star, we'll be living so large / I'll do anything for you." Now he fills her head up with grand ideas. And if this is some average Joe, this is a total fabrication! How do you intend on becoming a star? Realistically? Are these the same lies that kept her bound to him to begin with?

  General Comment:i like the film clip, it really shows what the song is about, just questioning... 'what if?' what if he never met the girl hes now in love with? what if he never took the chance on love? he wouldnt have what he has now... but then again hes missing out on alot of the pain that comes with a relationship

  General Comment:The whole "Mmmm whatcha say" part is actually a song called "Hide an seek" by Imogen Heap.
  Ugh.. so tired of so called artist taking the credit for other peoples work. I've heard of "sampling" but give me a fuckin break. These dudes get paid ungodly amounts of money for unoriginality. Pathetic.
