I went to bed I was thinking about you
Ain't the same since I'm living without you
All the memories are getting colder
All the things that I wanna do over
I went to bed I was thinking about you
I wanna talk and laugh like we used to
When I see you in my dreams at night
It's so real but it's in my mind
And now
I guess
This is as good as it gets
Don't wake me
'Cause I don't wanna leave this dream
Don't wake me
'Cause I never seem to stay asleep enough
When it's you I'm dreaming of
I don't wanna wake up
I went to bed I was thinking about you
And how it felt when I finally found you
It's like a movie playing over in my head
Don't wanna look 'cause I know how it ends
All the words that I said that I wouldn't say
All the promises I made that I wouldn't break
It's last call, last song, last dance
'Cause I can't get you back, can't get a second chance
And now, I guess
This is as good as it gets
Don't wake me
'Cause I don't wanna leave this dream
Don't wake me
'Cause I never seem to stay asleep enough
When it's you I'm dreaming of
I don't wanna wake up
Don't wake me
We're together just you and me
Don't wake me
'Cause we're happy like we used to be
I know I've gotta let you go
But I don't wanna be alone
These dreams of you keep on growing stronger
It ain't a lot but it's all I have
Nothing to do but keep sleeping longer
Don't wanna stop cause I want you back
Don't wake me
'Cause I don't wanna leave this dream
Don't wake me
'Cause I never seem to stay asleep enough
When it's you I'm dreaming of
I don't wanna wake up
Don't wake me
We're together just you and me
Don't wake me
'Cause we're happy like we used to be
I know I've gotta let you go
But I don't wanna be alone
I went to bed I was thinking about you
Cause I don't wanna leave this dream
It ain't the same since I been here without you
Cause I never seem to stay asleep
I know I gotta let you go, I don't wanna wake up
Ain't the same since I'm living without you
All the memories are getting colder
All the things that I wanna do over
I went to bed I was thinking about you

p.s. LOVE THE SONG AND SKILLET EITHER WAY!!
but this song is good i still love it tho.
Just wow.
"I went to bed I was thinking about you
Ain't the same since I'm living without you
All the memories are getting colder
All the things that I wanna do over"
He's (it could be in a girls prospective too, but im gonna say he) thinking about how much his life has changed now that he's not with the girl he loves anymore and all the memories that used to make him happy to think about, now just keep causing more and more pain. He just wants to go back in time and fix things.
"Went to bed I was thinking about you
I wanna talk and laugh like we used to
When I see you in my dreams at night
It's so real but it's in my mind"
He just wants his happy life with her back, so much that he dreams about her at night and his dreams seem so realistic even tho its not reality.
"And now
I guess
This is as good as it gets
Don't wake me
'Cause I don't wanna leave this dream
Don't wake me
'Cause I never seem to stay asleep enough
When it's you I'm dreaming of
I don't wanna wake up
Don't wake me
We're together just you and me
Don't wake me
'Cause we're happy like we used to be"
These dreams are all he has left of this girl, and are the only time he can possible have with her. He doesn't want to wake up and realize that it was all in his head and he has to face reality again. (Its a really bad feeling when you are so happy in your dream but then you have to wake up and face the truth that it's not real, and you still have to face the pain, know what i mean?)
"I know I've gotta let you go
But I don't wanna wake up"
Powerful line - He knows that is over and he needs to move on but he can't help but want to stay in his dreams, they're like an addiction to him.
"I went to bed I was thinking about you
And how it felt when I finally found you
It's like a movie playing over in my head
Don't wanna look 'cause i know how it ends"
He remembers how good it felt to be with her. Their relationship was like a cheesy love story with a horrible ending (no one likes those right?)
"All the words that I said that I wouldn't say
All the promises I made that I wouldn't break
It's last call, last song, last dance
'Cause I can't get you back, can't get a second chance"
He's ashamed of him self for doing and saying things to her that he swore he would never do or say and hes sorry for breaking the promises. But his sorrys wont work - its the end and theres no changing the past.
"And now, I guess
This is as good as it gets
These dreams of you keep on growing stronger
It ain't a lot but it's all I have
Nothing to do but keep sleeping longer
Don't wanna stop cause I want you back"
The dreams he has of her is all he has and all he will ever have left of her, and they keep getting more and more vivid. All he can do to have her is to sleep more. He needs her in his life and he just admits it - he wants her back.
This song is pritty self-explainitory, and i didn't really need to explain it, but this song really speaks to me, my bf left me and the only way i can be with him is through my dreams, i wish i could just dream forever, cuz it sucks to wake up and realize it was all in my head. Thank you Skillet, you are an amazing band and I love the fact that you incorperate God in most of your songs.
Also, is it just me or is this song kinda like "Hear Without You" by Three Days Grace? I think they have the same general meaning.

But now that I'm looking at the lyrics, I think that it could possibly be about God and how this person shunned God away. And now he/she realizes the mistake of that and wants Him back. But they think that it's too late for them and God won't accept them.
