These are my twisted words
Went off the roof still walking
I know I should not look down
But I'm so sick of just talking
When are you coming back?
I just can't handle it
When are you coming back?
I just can't handle it
When are you coming back?
I just can't stand it
I just can't handle it
Went off the roof still walking
I know I should not look down
But I'm so sick of just talking
When are you coming back?
I just can't handle it
When are you coming back?
I just can't handle it
When are you coming back?
I just can't stand it
I just can't handle it

Yeah, I believe ayatollah is right! (ie: the song being about Thom longing for Jesus to return and save us from the mess we've made of this world).
Weird too, coz a few years back I would've put money on Thom being an atheist or at least an agnostic... but more and more I'm reading covert Christian messages in his writing. Maybe Thom's the second coming of Bono in disguise? ;)
(For other examples of this phenominon see: Where I End and You Begin, Go Slowly, even You off Pablo Honey).
To construe Yorke as a Christian is just so terribly misguided, it's hard to know where to start. There is no way in hell Yorke is actually hoping Jesus is coming back to save the world. He might be writing about how people attach themselves to blind hope to get through life, and in that way be talking about Jesus. Otherwise, no. Come on guys, this is Radiohead, songs exclusively about religion are saved for first level thinkers like Reznor, Bono and the guy from Toolio. Radiohead is for people who get the bigger picture.

eyeroll Well I was being kinda ironic with the Bono thing, hence the wink in my original post. Though perhaps I should've used the term Supreme Being/Higher Power rather than Jesus/Christian (?)

I know Thom Yorke ISN'T "a Christian" per se (if anything, he appears to adhere to many Buddist teachings from what I've read) - just that many of his songs include references to Biblical themes.

Basically, the guy seems deeply interested in many world religions/belief systems and often references various theological/philosophical writings in his lyrics. Or did you miss this part?

Personally I don't see it as being terribly out of character for Thom to write a song from the POV of someone yearning for a "Saviour" to come down and make everything right with the world (after all, he DOES sing about Jesus on "I Am a Wicked Child") - even if these songs are intentionally ironic or the narrators naive/idealistic.
Lanta had to go and ruin everything. Geesh...
