it's getting hard to stand up
I think I can hear God calling my name
He'll try to make my heart break
but I was told you'd call me tonight
they're calling my name
they won't slow the car down
I'm scared that I will keep it for my own
the one that is calling my name is telling "come down"
they're calling my name
they're calling my name
calling my name

General Comment:i feel like the line would either be:
the one that is calling my name is telling "calm down"
or "come home" based on the context

My Interpretation:i'm pretty sure this song is about a drug overdose. the way in which the audio is distorted and his voice almost pleading in a way...

[it's getting hard to stand up
I think I can hear God calling my name]

    dying from an overdose

    [they're calling my name
they won't slow the car down]

in an ambulance/ vehicle transporting him to a hospital

[the one that is calling my name is telling "come down"]

as in, 'off of drugs' or from a trip.

General Comment:I think the lyrics say something about "come home"
    instead of "calling my name"
It drives me crazy when I can't figure out what a song really says.
But it's still my 2nd favorite song on the album (:

General Comment:Has anyone tried playing it backwards?
I don't know... could have some kind of subliminal message in it.
It's definitely a very unique song that I would love to figure out.

General Comment:With it getting hard to stay up,
I think I can hear God calling my name
You'll probably make my heart break
But I was told you're coming to know
    Coming home
And you stole the car but
I'm scared that I would keep it for my own
And all the rain covering the summer
    Coming home
    They're coming home
    You're coming home
    Yeah, you're coming home
    Coming home

General Comment:This is just pretty much a general statement about brand new in general, but does it bother anyone else that everyone seems to credit everything that brand new does to jesse alone? according to absolutepunk.net, this song was written by vinny, not jesse. It just seems like everytime someone is trying to defend brand new they say how "I am sure Jesse did it for a reason", as if jesse is the only one making decisions about the band. I don't know how many of you actually have the physical copy of daisy, but if you check the liner notes it says "All songs written by brand new". They're clearly trying to make a point that these songs are the product of all of them.

That being said, i think its interesting as hell how similar jesse's lyrics and vinny's lyrics are. i would have assumed this was written by jesse because of the religious theme and whatnot, but its awesome that they seem to be on the same page and share similar points of view about what they depict in their lyrics.

    end rant!
