Lyrics for Uprising as interpreted by kelusterk

Uprising Lyrics
The paranoia is in bloom,
The PR transmissions will resume,
They'll try to push drugs to keep us all dumbed down,
And hope that we will never see the truth around,

SO COME ON!

Another promise, another seed,
Another packaged lie to keep us trapped in greed,
With all the green belts wrapped around our minds,
And endless red tape to keep the truth confined,

SO COME ON!

They will not force us,
They will stop degrading us,
They will not control us,
And we will be victorious!

SO COME ON!

Interchanging mind-control,
Come, let the revolution take its toll,
If you could flick a switch and open your third eye,
You'd see that we should never be afraid to die,

SO COME ON!

Rise up and take the power back,
It's time that the fat cats had a heart attack,
You know that their time's coming to an end,
We have to unify and watch our flag ascend!

SO COME ON!

They will not force us,
They will stop degrading us,
They will not control us,
And we will be victorious!

SO COME ON!

OI OI OI OI OI

They will not force us,
They will stop degrading us,
They will not control us,
And we will be victorious!

SO COME ON!

COME ON!

OI OI OI OI

I LOVE this! Fantastic beat, really reminds me of Depeche Mode/Marilyn Manson in the same way USoE reminds me of Queen.

I think the meaning is very self-explanatory; it's another of Matt's anti-establishment dance-pop singles.

Which isn't to say I don't utterly adore it. ;D

Sounds a lot like "brave new world" and "1984" with all the drugs to keep us dumbed down and mind control.
Maybe our future...

This song is epic. Period. :)

Great first single for The Resistance, too bad it leaked before time but on the other hand we're lucky to hear this great song early!

God damn this this song is so fucking amazing even though I'm kinda doubtful will we be victorious. We have already pretty much fucked ourselves with technology and dumb people are outbreeding smart people at a staggering pace. Where have you been hoju? The US is basically at the 1984 point and places like north korea have been there for quite some time. I can't wait until they make a video for this.

Oh. My. God.

I love it, but man, the beginning is definitely Doctor Who.

Does anyone else get the feeling that... Matt, or perhaps the whole of Muse, are strong conspiracy believers? lol

I am too, just decided to point out the obvious.

Awesome, I think they made a great choice when they talked about the 'third eye' and consciousness, I think it reffers to something really real.. maybe something that's happening already...

Self-explanatory, powerful lyrics...
And the music reminded me of Doctor Who, 'Call Me' by Blondie and Marilyn Manson's 'The Beautiful People' lol

Does anyone know whats that with the "fat cats had a heart attack"? Maybe guys who caused the things above it, but there are still some?

Great song by the way. I love the thrill in Matt“s voice.

The lyrics are pretty straight forward. Wouldnt be suprised if the whole record circulates around the uprising resistance - hence the first single and the album title. The duel between govornment and the resistant on Black holes and revelations will propably take its toll on this album. "Come, let the revolution take its toll," matthew still calls upon this revolution/resistance against the govornment.

Looking forward to the album and the lyrics. Love the catchy first single. Muse @ parken, denmark 10/11/09

It means that Muse is not a fan of tyranny or forced control into the collective (social justice) but rather believes that we must rise up to face it AND fight it, in the name of our personal liberty. I know that the UK has a long history of social control and tyranny and we are just now learning to love it here in the US. I think this song is directed here (as is very trendy with UK and Aussie bands...at least when Bush was pres). Regarding the fat cats line; You could interpret as directed towards big business or capitalism but they are out for profits, not outright control over every detail of the peoples lives. That kind of power and control over the citizens is the mainstay of large central government and the bubble-dwelling elitists that manipulate it. I would think he is directing that towards the establishment fat cats (read as: barney frank/nancy pelosi/chris dodd/harry reid and yes even the chosen one himself). I would add some republicans in there as well but since they aren't in power at this time and haven't really been in the last 3 years...I would say this anti-tyranny song is most likely directed at the current over-reaching, power grabbing, liberty destroying control whores currently running the show both here and abroad. The ones telling us every day to shut up, sit down and get down with the progressive landslide that is swallowing us up whole. I may be personalizing too much to assume it is geared towards the US, as it is equally applicable to the current socialist agenda in the UK and the rest of Europe (no you can't have that breast cancer treatment, because we can't provide it to everybody...take two aspirin and call me when you reach stage 4, we have some great suicide drugs that provide ample savings). However, I have to ask myself where they plan to make more money on touring and cd/ipod sales...here or in the UK. Marketing 101.

I'm not sure who he aimed these lyrics at. as in who is behind the conspiracy he is so clearly going on about. I guess its just aimed at the fat cats in general. Those who think they can "control us".

I do believe there is a lot of truth in these words. Very thought provoking.
It almost seems like muse is trying to build an army of followers to lead a revolution. I wonder what happens if you play the song backwards......LOL

This song is incredibly catchy. It has great music, fantastic lyrics and I can't get enough of it. Rarely do I like songs immediately but I heard it on the radio and loved it the first time.

Interesting, I'm glad Muse are actually tuned in to this, I think they may have a bit of knowledge of the New World Order Conspiracies - they're basically saying we are being dumbed down to what is happening around us - maybe also there is a hint of religion here as they are saying we shouldnt be afraid to die - my opinion anyway and the NWO is so complex it would take me an age to go into it. Peace x

Well, this is the first song I have heard off the new album! Truly wonderful!

I especially love the line "It's time the fat cats had a heart attack". I hear that, and definitely identify with sentiment.

Many people have already said what I'm about to say, but yeah, the song is about the government tying down the public, so we don't learn their secrets.

I love Matt's political views and conspiracies!

Amazing song!

I do love this song!!!

I can't really tell if he is left wing or right wing? Not that it really matters, I'm just curious.

I love the chorus:

"They will not force us,
They will stop degrading us,
They will not control us,
And we will be victorious!"
