Tonight is the one thing left
And I haven't said it yet, I'm falling
And the writings on the wall

Today was misery
And I just can't believe this happened
And I finally broke down (finally broke down)
She held onto my heart
But now my only star is falling
And it's burning to the ground

Now I'm crying out

[Chorus]
Secret love, my escape
Take me far, far away
Secret love, are you there
Will you answer my prayer
Please take me anywhere but here
Anywhere but here

You're all I've got right now
No one else figures out this feeling
And how lonely it can get (how lonely it can get)
These words can cut right through
'Cause all along I knew you're sorry
But you haven't said it yet

But I won't forget

[Chorus]

When we're together
Thoughts of her disappear
If I fell to pieces
You'd heal this pain I feel

Secret love, my escape
Take me far far away
Secret love, are you there
Will you answer my prayer

[Chorus]

General Comment:i'm not sure if this is the original meaning but i think all songs can be open to any interpretation
so i like to think that it's about music
he's had an awful day and his gf broke up with him
and so he turns to music as his secret love to take him away

My Opinion:I think that he's in a relationship but his life sucks, so hes calling out to his mistress

My Interpretation:To me, this sounds like it is about a drug addiction.

    "Secret love, my escape
    Take me far, far away
    Secret love, are you there?
    Will you answer my prayer?
Please take me anywhere but here
    Anywhere but here"

    "Secret love", being the addiction.
    "My escape", pretty self-explanatory.
"Take me far, far away", similar to the previous line, it's like an output.
"Secret love, are you there?", I'm not entirely sure about this line.
"Will you answer my prayer?", ^
"Please take me anywhere but here, Anywhere but here",

The first verse sounds like what caused the person to resort to this.
The second verse sounds pretty similar to the first.
And, same with the rest of the song.

But, you know, it might not be necessarily drugs.
I'm not entirely sure, this is just my interpretation.

General Comment:I think that it is about a guy trying to get over his ex by talking to his best friend who he is secretly in love with.

I think the band still sounds great without jason.

General Comment:i love this song and mayday parade it isn't like the rest of there songs which is good you don't want to hear the same song over and over again

General Comment:i absolutely love mayday parade, but this new album is really disappointing. with the loss of jason lancaster on vocals and guitar, the band just is not the same. with the exception of a few songs, most of the album lacks true meaning behind any of the lyrics (which were contributed by lancaster). in my opinion, lancaster made the band unique. if you dont believe me, listen to Three Cheers for Five Years vs Kids in Love. or The Last Something That Meant Anything vs Anywhere but Here. the difference is obvious, and slightly depressing.

My Interpretation:i really don't think this song is about cheating, i think it's about a breakup and finding someone new and amazing. i can relate completely....

like, he was with a girl, then she broke his heart and he's going mad. but he found a new girl, his "secret love", and she makes him forget the girl that broke his heart and keeps him happy for the time being. he wants her to help him escape his heartbreak and everything that reminds him of his ex. he wants his secret love to keep him happy, like she already does.

it reminds me of a situation i was in... i was in love with a girl, my first real love, but she broke my heart and i really was going crazy, this was february. then this boy that goes to my old school started talking to me, shortly after my heartbreak and we talked a lot. he started falling for me, and i went to him when i had no one else to turn to. he was like my "secret love". we've been together for over a month and he makes me so happy. if it weren't for him, i'd still be dwelling on my ex. but i try really hard to not let thoughts of her get to me, and he's just made everything better.

My Opinion:since jason has left the band has gone downhill. the lyrics are shocking compared to before and the music is now awful, theyve changed there style ever since theyve signed with atlantic records as well. im now listening to jason's new band go radio and the lyrics are so much better than this tripe, although it will never be mayday parade.

General Comment:Those that have some sort of cockfest with Jason, please stop. They where good with him, but they can still pull it off without him.

Anyway, I think this song is definitely about a relationship that isn't going well, but this part:

    "When we're together
    Thoughts of her disappear
    If I fell to pieces
You'll heal this pain I feel"

Is about his friends. How do I know this? The music video. At that part, you see Derek and the rest of the band hanging out in the city with the same car from the beginning.
