she was acting pretty, thought she owned the city
someone should have told her pretty ain't a job
now she begs for money, no one calls her honey
as she bothers shoppers in the parking lot
gets her karma with a catch
forgets superstition by wearing in backwards
lives under ladders and sleeps with black cats
some people never change
they just stay the same way
i swear this like a sailor, love is not a favor
i find its just a concept that we live inside
if you can agree with me and mr. twain
in matters of opinion our rivals are insane
forgets superstition by wearing in backwards
lives under ladders and sleeps with black cats
some people never change
they just stay the same way
someone should have told her pretty ain't a job
now she begs for money, no one calls her honey
as she bothers shoppers in the parking lot
gets her karma with a catch
forgets superstition by wearing in backwards
lives under ladders and sleeps with black cats
some people never change
they just stay the same way
i swear this like a sailor, love is not a favor
i find its just a concept that we live inside

lives under ladders and sleeps with black cats
some people never change

"she was acting pretty, thought she owned the city"
*This song is about a hooker who always flirted with people and thought she owned the city. She could hook up with someone and that's how she gets money.
"someone should have told her pretty ain't a job"
*her "job" is being a hooker but what Ryan Ross is saying that someone should have told her that pretty is NOT a job so she'll know.
"now she begs for money, no one calls her honey, as she bothers shoppers in the parking lot"
*now she is a hobo/homeless person because her so-called "job" didn't last. She bothers people in parking lots asking for money.
SO the whole entire point is that there was a hooker who thought she owned the city. And thought pretty was her job. when she grew up(no one wants to hook up with her) she is homeless and begging for money. She had the chance to change her job while she was still young but she didn't, thinking her job would last. However, she is a 42 year old lady living under ladders and sleeping with black cats. She never changed
--The sound maybe Beatles like but the lyrics will always be from Panic!
I got this from Lyric interpretations but I was the one that posted it.
Hmm.
i liked the first panic record, LOVED pretty. odd., and im loving what the young veins are doing! i hope theres more of this.
the panic song is okay; i feel like its missing something.
Change is such a great song to start off the new band with...it's so fitting.
"in matters of opinion, our rivals are insane"-reference to the split between PANIC? it was definitely necessary, and it looks like the bands are going two completely separate directions. i cant wait to see what happens, but im definitely liking ryan and jon's new stuff more than PANIC's.
But I digress.
Ryan's voice reminds me of Jack White a bit in this song. Awesome.
I liked Panic at the Disco, but this is a whole new thing for me.
Most music that you hear these days is all new, electronic, and not really honest.
This brings it back to the basics, and feels very honest.
the song is possibly about the split, that panic wasn't really doing anything for them anymore they were just "staying the same", and so they needed a change. And that's this.
There's plenty more ways to interpret the lyrics, and i just love the rawness of it. <3
