she was acting pretty, thought she owned the city
someone should have told her pretty ain't a job
now she begs for money, no one calls her honey
as she bothers shoppers in the parking lot

gets her karma with a catch
forgets superstition by wearing in backwards
lives under ladders and sleeps with black cats

some people never change
they just stay the same way

i swear this like a sailor, love is not a favor
i find its just a concept that we live inside
if you can agree with me and mr. twain
in matters of opinion our rivals are insane

forgets superstition by wearing in backwards
lives under ladders and sleeps with black cats

some people never change
they just stay the same way

General Comment:I feel little bit annoy with you guys keep comparing P!ATD with The Young Veins. They've split, ryan choose this music, brendon choose to keep stand for P!ATD. It's funny because Brendon is the last person who join in P!ATD and he's the one who keep standing when the rest is just leave. So, you guys can stop comparing and just enjoy what they made for you. Thanks.

    Song Meaning:I don't think it's about Panic's break up. I think it's about a hooker.

"she was acting pretty, thought she owned the city"
*This song is about a hooker who always flirted with people and thought she owned the city. She could hook up with someone and that's how she gets money.

"someone should have told her pretty ain't a job"
*her "job" is being a hooker but what Ryan Ross is saying that someone should have told her that pretty is NOT a job so she'll know.

"now she begs for money, no one calls her honey, as she bothers shoppers in the parking lot"
*now she is a hobo/homeless person because her so-called "job" didn't last. She bothers people in parking lots asking for money.

SO the whole entire point is that there was a hooker who thought she owned the city. And thought pretty was her job. when she grew up(no one wants to hook up with her) she is homeless and begging for money. She had the chance to change her job while she was still young but she didn't, thinking her job would last. However, she is a 42 year old lady living under ladders and sleeping with black cats. She never changed

--The sound maybe Beatles like but the lyrics will always be from Panic!

I got this from Lyric interpretations but I was the one that posted it.

General Comment:it's ironic that Panic separated, then The Young Veins released this song, "Change" and Panic released "New Perspective."
    Hmm.

General Comment:I think it's kind of about the split. Ryan expresses his feelings through his lyrics, and no doubt him and Jon really aren't liking Brendon and Spencer right now. Especially after seeing that AP interview they did, where they kind of bashed Brendon and Spencer. "Some people never change, they just stay the same." Brendon and Spencer always had wanted to stick with the original music of Panic! At The Disco and Ryan and Jon didn't. They wanted to change. Apparently, that's pretty much the reason they broke up. The reference to a "she" in this song could just be Ryan's way of talking about Brendon and Spencer, so that the media doesn't get all up on them about it. And, "In matters of opinion, our rivals are insane." That's pretty much a key clue. Brendon and Spencer are their key rivals right now, I suppose, so don't you think?

Song Meaning:i dont think its about panic! and their break-up at all. it seems pretty straightforeward that its about ryan and maybe he goes back to vegas (his hometown) after these 4 years of being a rockstar and sees his ex-gf that inspired so many songs in the AFYCSO album (a fever you can't sweat out). back then she cheated on him and now 'she begs for money, no one calls her honey' because her glory days of being hot and 'unattainable' are over but she's still acting the same way 'some people never change, they just stay the same' and her 'karma with a catch' is how she cheated on him and now 4 years later he's rich and famous and HE doesn't need HER anymore

General Comment:oh cool. i saw these lyrics here yesterday and they were wrong, but i guess theyve been fixed.

i liked the first panic record, LOVED pretty. odd., and im loving what the young veins are doing! i hope theres more of this.

the panic song is okay; i feel like its missing something.

Change is such a great song to start off the new band with...it's so fitting.

"in matters of opinion, our rivals are insane"-reference to the split between PANIC? it was definitely necessary, and it looks like the bands are going two completely separate directions. i cant wait to see what happens, but im definitely liking ryan and jon's new stuff more than PANIC's.

General Comment:I love it too. Way better than New Perspective. Way to de-evolve Panic.

    But I digress.

Ryan's voice reminds me of Jack White a bit in this song. Awesome.

General Comment:I actually love this song.
I liked Panic at the Disco, but this is a whole new thing for me.
Most music that you hear these days is all new, electronic, and not really honest.
This brings it back to the basics, and feels very honest.

the song is possibly about the split, that panic wasn't really doing anything for them anymore they were just "staying the same", and so they needed a change. And that's this.

There's plenty more ways to interpret the lyrics, and i just love the rawness of it. <3
