    General Comment:@MHHD2 It doesn't matter what or who happens to him, he's already made up his mind. It's disturbing that he LOVINGLY and meticulously constructs the table, and all the people around him are simple expectators that can't connect with him anymore. It's as if he's already gone, so he's just taking the final step, which is to make his own body expire. I find the role of the people more disturbing than his actions: no one tries to save him, they're ready for the show. The only entity with an expression of concern is the sheep! This is a man's slow and completely lonely path to disappearence.

    Song Meaning:The more I look at the lyrics, the more I understand why it's called "The Executioner's Song". The song feels like it's about Cass's job as a musician. Regardless of how much he gets paid doing it (which judging by the lyrics isn't a huge amount), Cass is telling us he is in it for something more than the money. And despite how stressful it is, he's just happy to be able to do what he loves. The job he mentions via chorus could be anything that people consider a labor of love.

    My Opinion:I love this song and the video is gorgeous! For me personally, this song & video remind me not to judge others. The executioner may love their job just as much as you love yours, and there is nothing good that will come from putting down other peoples happiness. Very inspirational.

    General Comment:Taking away the morbid context of the video and the title of the song, to me it just sounds like a beautifully flowing song about someone that is content with work and love… accepting and appreciating the good he/she receives?! In a 'money is not all that important to happiness' sort of way?!

    Not sure why it is called the executioner song or why a hanging is part of the song in the video… I think it is quite comical that these things got put together- song- title- hanging. Maybe in a strange and bizarre world someone that is getting paid to ‘kill’ (in the broadest sense of the meaning) is grateful and justifies this as it being just a job to make ends meet.
