  My Interpretation:I think this song is about a rough break-up, and how she cheated on him and wanted him back so bad but he saw right through her lies and basically is saying that she doesn't really love him because of what she did:
  I could forget the lies.
  I could forget the height for always.
  I could forget how desperately you tried.
  Flattery will get you nowhere.
  
  Thus explaining again, how she made him feel while she was with him and it's ironic now that she wants him back so bad:
  I could forget your pride.
  I could forget your wandering eyes.
  I could forget about the way you made me feel.
  You talked to me so condescending.
  
  Now this one may seem wrong, but it made a lot of sense to me. When he says "I'm so surprised you weren't dead." I think thats him saying that she said she "couldn't live without him" so he's surprised she's still alive even though they aren't together. And basically when he yous "You make me wanna forget" He's saying she makes him want to forget all the good times they had together or that she even exists. Make sense to anyone else? Sounds similar to what I'm going through... Lol.

  General Comment:Another comment D: but uhm, shouldn't it be, "I could forget how you had tried to get the best of me"? The name of the song, after all, is The Best Of Me. Not that that says much. With Me Tonight's chorus was 'with me today' but it sounds more like 'of' than 'in' in this song.

  Also when I heard it, right before the chorus, it sounded a bit like the beginning of Sound Effects and Overdramatics.

  General Comment:I love the fact that it sounds a lot like Sound Effects as that is still one of my fave songs by them!!!! But on this song, which to me is one of the best on Artwork, Bert actually said at their London show on Wednesday that this song is about revenge!!
  Oh and its 'I could forget the Hype for always' and not 'Height for always'!!!! - just thought i would throw that one in lol!

  yess that's what i first thought.
  but the meaning itself, i don't think of it as a relationship that started badly, just a relationship Bert needs to let go
  he's telling himself all this stuff to ease the pain rather than it actually working.
  like "i could forget" rather than "i will" or "i did"
  i don't think he really can
  and "you never got me"
  i think he's also trying to tell himself and convince himself that it wasn't that great
  when really it was
  but that's just my take on it.
  and i don't really wanna start arguments on here, they're all just opinions.

  Song Meaning:I'd pretty much agree with the John Feldmann idea. But honestly, this could be a reference to anyone, or anything. It pretty much covers all of the people that may of backstabbed/hurt/betrayed Bert. Very relate able song and my favorite off the album. I like how this song was a major, major throwback to ILAD and their self-titled album. Reminded me a lot of Sound Effects and Overdramatics.
