She lives in a fairy tale
Somewhere too far for us to find
Forgotten the taste and smell
Of a world that she's left behind
It's all about the exposure the lens I told her
The angles were all wrong now
She's ripping wings off of butterflies
Keep your feet on the ground
When your head's in the clouds

Well go get your shovel
And we'll dig a deep hole
To bury the castle, bury the castle
Go get your shovel
And we'll dig a deep hole
To bury the castle, bury the castle

Ba da ba ba da ba ba da

So one day he found her crying
Coiled up on the dirty ground
Her prince finally came to save her
And the rest she can figure out
But it was a trick
And the clock struck twelve
Well make sure to build your home brick by boring brick
Or the wolf's gonna blow it down
Keep your feet on the ground
When your head's in the clouds

Well go get your shovel
And we'll dig a deep hole
To bury the castle, bury the castle
Go get your shovel
And we'll dig a deep hole
We'll bury the castle, bury the castle

Woah

Well you built up a world of magic
Because your real life is tragic
Yeah you built up a world of magic

If it's not real
You can't hold it in your hand
You can't feel it with your heart
And I won't believe it
But if it's true
You can see it with your eyes
Oh, even in the dark
And that's where I want to be, yeah

Go get your shovel
We'll dig a deep hole
To bury the castle, bury the castle
Go get your shovel
We'll dig a deep hole
To bury the castle, bury the castle

Ba da ba ba da ba ba da
Ba da ba ba da ba ba
Ba da ba ba da ba ba da
Ba da ba ba da ba ba

Ba da ba ba da ba ba da
Ba da ba ba da ba ba
Ba da ba ba da ba ba da
Ba da ba ba da ba ba

My Interpretation:ive read so many different meanings (including one about mind control...?), but these were my thoughts when i first heard the song

She lives in a fairy tale
Somewhere too far for us to find

~she is living in a world that is in her mind (prolly schizo)

    Forgotten the taste and smell
Of a world that she's left behind

~shes lost track of real life

It's all about the exposure the lens I told her

~the way she looks at life in general. if she is convinced its one way, thats how
    it is in her mind

The angles were all wrong now
She's ripping wings off of butterflies

~she realizes that her dreamland isnt perfect

Keep your feet on the ground
When your head's in the clouds

~she is off in her own world, but she needs to stabalize herself

    Well go get your shovel
And we'll dig a deep hole
To bury the castle, bury the castle
    Go get your shovel
And we'll dig a deep hole
To bury the castle, bury the castle

~she needs to bury this dreamland

So one day he found her crying
Coiled up on the dirty ground

~shes a mess, shes lost somewhere between her dreamland and real life

Her prince finally came to save her
And the rest she can figure out

    ~she fell in love

    But it was a trick
    And the clock struck twelve

~but since she was out of it, she lost it

Well make sure to build your home brick by boring brick
Or the wolf's gonna blow it down

~she builds a wall seperating herself from real life

Well you built up a world of magic
Because your real life is tragic
Yeah you built up a world of magic

~her life wasnt very great and her thoughts made her go crazy. she found peace in her dreamland

    If it's not real
You can't hold it in your hand
You can't feel it with your heart
    And I won't believe it
    But if it's true
You can see it with your eyes
    Oh, even in the dark
And that's where I want to be, yeah

~is it real? this is the decision she is forced to make in the end

    really, i think shes crazy

General Comment:I'm gonna take a stab at this that many people might not understand. i think it's about a girl whose so forgone from reality because of drugs. the building up of bricks is the increased tolerance (bring by boring brick). The girl has to take more to feel normal and a lot more to get high. When you're an addict, you're disconnected from reality.

Keep your feet on the ground when your head is in the clouds: Girls on so many drugs that her life is completely ditatched fro reality.

A shovel could be something and dig a deep hole is that someone was enabling her. Burying the castle could also mean escaping from life through drugs.

-Well you built up a world of magic,
because your real life is track,
yeah you built up a world of magic - Built up a huge tolereance to drugs. Can't function without them.

The shovel, well big a deep hole, to bury the castle

-Rehab, someone finally helped her because she couldn't help herself.

My Interpretation:This song to me is about a girl who is lost and a little lonely. She isn't even living in the same world anymore and she knows that she need to "bury the castle " and kill off her inner child that she holding on to and move on. I think its also about inner conflict that starts to mess with friends. The girl is fighting with herself so much that shes lost her grip on everything else and her friends just want to pull her head out of the clouds

General Comment:I think it's about remembering to keep your head in relationships, and not letting your feelings block out truth.
    This is the coolest:
    If it's not real
You can't hold it in your hand
You can't feel it with your heart
    And I won't believe it
    But if it's true
You can see it with your eyes
    Oh, even in the dark
And that's where I want to be, yeah

General Comment:God, I love songmeanings! I lyric searched "too real for you" and this is what I find...makes perfect sense...each brick laying the foundation of a fairy tale fantacy.

Most importantly, it's about the lense and the exposure and how something so close can seem so distant if the aperature is reversed or how something so distant can seem so close or how something so close can seem even closer...it's all in the angle and curvature of light and how if it never directly shines, it can render you blind! Blah!

My Opinion:I think it means that when you are dreaming to still keep the real world in view so you don't get hurt
hence (but it was a trick and the clock struck twelve well make sure to build your house brick by boring brick) so be sensible.

General Comment:I think it's about a girl who has a really bad life, so she creates a fairy tale world to escape to, but she gets to into it and begins to live in it all the time, seeing everything as part of it. She sees a guy she really likes as a prince, but he's just using her. Then when she realizes the fairy tale is ruining her life, she becomes scared until she finally decides to end it all and mature

Song Meaning:Though a lot of interpretations on here are interesting and relevant to the song, I looked up Hayley William's intended meaning and was shocked to see how she subtly conveyed the dark truth behind her words.

The lyrics express the victims of Monarch Programming. It was a mind controlling method the illuminati used on people (especially children) who could dissassociate themselves from reality easily.

They would turn their human experiments into slaves by torturing them severely, either psychologically or mentally. The pain would be so incredibly unbearable that the victim would dissociate from the world around them (as a survival mechanism) and soon not know fantasy from reality. Once they were able to be manipulated, the sick bastards would program their minds to believe whatever they are told and they would be unaware of the abuse or that they were being manipulated. They would set a trigger for the slave to react and obey them when they pleased.

My Interpretation:I think that it's about growing up. Having all these ideals about life and having them shattered by reality.
