I can finally see
That you're right there beside me
I am not my own
For I have been anew
Please don't let me go
I desperately need you

I am not my own
For I have been anew
Please don't let me go
I desperately need you

General Comment:I agree that it's about God, but don't ignore the obvious drug references. Now, Adam never DIRECTLY talks about drugs, but I think this song is also about when he went to rehab.

My Opinion:Okay...well for starters, this song is very meaningful without a ton of verses and choruses. In fact, it's short and sweet. I think that, how it is interperated by an individual is entirely up to them. :) Some people may believe it's about a relationship with a partner, maybe that's how THEY want to take it. Others, like myself may look at it more from a religious point of view. Adam Young most likely wrote this so it would be about his relationship with god/Christ. Music is made to provoke emotions and feelings from the listeners and perhaps share those thoughts/feelings from the artist. In this case, sharing his love for god. The listeners/people can take the song in 2 ways. It's up to them. It's the beauty of music...and if I can say anything, music by Owl City/Sky Sailing/Port Blue (all a.k.a Adam Young) is more than beautiful. His music makes you think. Beneath the metaphors and different language techniques. And people can interprate songs in different ways.

I love your amazing music Adam, it has helped me a lot when I've been feeling very down.

Huge Owl City-loving, gothic, teenage girl. ;) xx

General Comment:I know that everyone has already said this, but let me say this too: Well, I believe it's about God and I like to think in that way..
Anyways, I love Adam, because to me his songs are really different from others. I admire him and his meaningful songs..<3

General Comment:Adam said in a quote somewhere (sorry I would reference it if I had it) that this song was about the Challenger Disaster and God. Basically he was saying that those who died in that disaster are safe because he believes they're with God. A nice thought if you ask me. So what's funny is that both sides are right on this one. :D

General Comment:It's most definitely about God. The deluxe version of Ocean Eyes comes with an insert with official lyrics. The lyrics for Meteor Shower has all of the "You"s capitalized, which is an English feature unique to reference to deity.
So, it is a brilliant love song to the God! Gotta' love Adam Young for the ingenious way he expresses his faith.

General Comment:I agree that the song is about God but i also think it may be about a girl that he is just realizing that he loves:

My Interpretation:New awakenings are often profound moments. This song, like others,
effectively captures both the spirit and musicality of these
    dramatic events.

These gestalt shifts, spoken about by Wittgenstein and others, have
world changing effects, one of which may be the impossibility of
seeing things in the previous way.

In answering the profound metaphysical question about the cause of
existence, a new understanding normally supercedes the last and the
removal of this new way of thinking becomes something to be desparately
    avoided.

In terms of new relationships,it is often the case that after falling
in love with a new person, one pictures the previous existence as a
desert with only loneliness and emptiness. While, after the love has bloomed,
one cannot imagine defining one's life without this new person as necessarily
    beside them.

As stars change from fixed centerpieces to sudden streaks of light in the sky,
new awakenings similarily provide wonder, excitement and in the most dramatic cases,
    a new reason to live.

My Interpretation:I personally think this song is about somebody that Adam has wronged is dying. I think that he is trying to apologize to this person on their deathbed. He is asking them for his forgiveness. Then when he realizes how imprinter this person is to him and he doesn't want to lose them.
