This is one of my favorite songs. https://fnfgo.io
We are saints made of plaster, our laughter is canned,
We are demons that hide in the mirror.
But the blood on our hands paints a picture exceedingly clear.
We are brimming with cumbersome, murderous greed,
And malevolence deep and profound.
We do unspeakable deeds, does our wickedness know any bounds?
Something's gone terribly wrong with everyone,
All the world is mad.
Darkness brings terrible things, the sun is gone
What vanity! Our sad, wretched fires.
We can't medicate man to perfection again,
We can't legislate peace in our hearts.
We can't educate sin from our souls, it's been there from the start.
But the blind lead the blind into bottomless pits,
Still we smile and deny that we're cursed.
But of all our iniquities ignorance may be the worst.
Oh, what little light we have!
It only serves to show
The snares and seeds of wrath
We have already sewn on every path.

Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

“Head > Heels” is a track that aims to capture what it feels like to experience romance that exceeds expectations. Ed Sheeran dedicates his album outro to a lover who has blessed him with a unique experience that he seeks to describe through the song’s nuanced lyrics.
Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
Heard this on myspace today. Ahhhmazing.
Gosh, I love these lyrics. Dustin has truly written an amazing song. I can't wait to hear the studio version.
The meaning of this song is pretty self-explanatory. Sounded pretty sick at the warped tour. Can't wait to hear the studio version
The record has already been leaked, =( Though I couldn't wait for it to come out the leaking of the record is still a saddening thing because it was incomplete and it is so beautiful already, so now that they are rushing to release the album to counteract the damage the leak will do to sales who knows what it could have been refined into?
@ musicallyobsessed<br /> <br /> You are wrong about the album being leaked incomplete if you follow their studio blog you know that they had already finished tracking and mixing the whole album as well as sent it to be mastered which was completed. Once a record is mastered there is no more changing tracks or anything. The real crazy/sad thing about the leak was that the mastered version hadn't made it back to thrice yet, it was still only at the the record company, since the one thing Thrice doesn't do themselves is master the record which they send out to do. What was left for them to do was all the artwork and marketing, which is the business side of it. So having it leaked did not in any way effect the sound of the songs of the record it is just changing their marketing strategy. <br /> <br /> oh on side note I think it is funny that if the music business didn't get so over caught up in itself and marketing this album would have been coming out right about now like in 60's and 70's after an album was mastered the album would come out in a week or two, but now they are so worried about setting up a single and booking appearances and trying to build up the hype machine it delays the process into which music is able to get to the consumer....<br /> <br /> and to get on to what I actually think these song lyrics mean...<br /> <br /> yeah this is a pretty straght forward song lyrically, just about the evils of mankind, plus it is dark in the fact that i interpret toward the end that mankind is doomed to failure and cannot be saved and that it was in our nature to always be evil....
Lyrically, this may be my favourite off of Beggars. This song sort of sets the theme for what the rest of the album is about, which is pretty straight-forward: the decline/corruption of mankind.
"But the blind lead the blind into bottomless pits, Still we smile and deny that we're cursed. But of all our iniquities ignorance may be the worst."
So good.
The song is amazing, from the first second, your like ohh whats this!!??
i love it
absofuckinglutely incredible. like thrice visited halloweentown or something. hehehe this has to be some of the darkest music they have ever put out which is not bad in the least bit
Look at songs like All that's Left, Between the End and Where We Lie, A Subtle Dagger... the list goes on man. <br /> <br /> Point being All of Thrice's music even from Identity Crisis have always had such deep meanings.
dustin is one of the most amazing poets to me and you are completely right.<br /> cant wait for the cd though. it has 5 more tracks
"We can't medicate man to perfection again; We can't legislate peace in our hearts. We can't educate sin from our souls, it's been there from the start. But the blind lead the blind into bottomless pits, Still we smile and deny that we're cursed. But of all our iniquities ignorance may be the worst..."
Can anyone else see the picture of America and the world of late? How about the "Church"...?
We've all forgotten our purpose, turned our thoughts and intentions inwards, and spit on the very thought of God and all that we don't understand of Him. All the while, we've figured out that Apes are our fathers and mothers, and sharks are our offspring.
Auhsoj3 says "this has to be some of the darkest music they have ever put out"
I say, this has to be some of the most honest music anyone has ever put out... Of all of our iniquities ignorance may be the worst...but it's bliss, right?
Listen to track 2...A bright light shines in the darkness to anyone who is willing to look, and listen.
But we all talk too much...
It has little to do with the belief in evolution and more to do with the disconnect from nature. Nature is God. We salute flags and adhere to manmade lines drawn in the sand. <br /> <br /> Evolution is real. If you believe in God you should admire him more for it.
yes it is some of the darkest stuff they have ever made and that is because it is so brutally honest.<br /> so glad they produced this album themselves.<br /> nothing holding them back.
auhsoj3, couldn't agree more. It's disheartening to say the least to listen to the majority of mass produced drudge that comes in off the airwaves. Not that the world is simply doom and gloom, but 'brutally honest' music just hits it home for me.<br /> <br /> Augustineee, we all hold to our beliefs with fervor, and in no way do I wish to push any of mine on anyone else. All the same, evolution or not, you are so right about our disconnect from nature. I wish more people in this world could just stop and take a breath or two. Our adherence, and so blindly at times, to the man made lines of religion and politics will always (in my opinion) be the downfall of our race...
I think this song is about simply we have become so deeply corrupt and greedy that we cannot change what is done. We are doomed.
This song is essentially about the fall of man since Eden,
"But the blind lead the blind into bottomless pits, Still we smile and deny that we're cursed."
The former line being an adaptation of one of Jesus' shorter parables, and the latter a reference to the human race being cursed after Adam and Eve sinned, and the fact that we try to pretend everything's.
The gist of this song is summed up nicely by Psalm 14:3
"There is no one who does good, not even one."
The whole album is very much like the book of Ecclesiastes.
'We can't educate sin from our souls, it's been there from the start'<br /> <br /> original sin?
