this might offend my political connects
my raps dont have melodies
this should make jackers want go
and commit felonies
get your chain tooken
i may do it myself
im so BROOKLYN!
i know we facing a recession
but the music ya making gonna make it the
great depression
or your lack of aggression
pull your skirt back down
grow a set man

yeah this just violent
yeah this death of auto tune
moment of silence

your boys jeans too tight
your colors to bright
your voice to light
i might wear black for a year straight
i might bring back versace shades
this aint for Z100
'Ye told me to kill ya
to keep it 100
this is for HOT 97
for khaled we the best then

yeah just get violent
yeah this death of auto tune
moment of silence

General Comment:I also just had to log on to keep it 100.

It's way more simple than that...

keeping it 100 just means staying true to yourself . . . keeping it real.

General Comment:Just had to log on to keep it 100. when Hov says Ye told him to keep it one hundred, this he is referring to a statement people say in Chicago which basically means "don't f#*K around". The saying is a derivative of saying something is Wild 100's or "Wile Hunneds" if you have the Chicago accent. The Wile Hunneds is a neighborhood in Chicago that is, well, wild and known for not f#*kin around. Basically if you aint from Wile Wile (also a name for the area) don't show up unless you are with somebody who is. The saying keep it 100 continues to be built upon. Wild Thousands is saying you've gone beyond the limits of what is already too wild and now you're just stupid. "On some Thousand-ry" is the current saying adopted by many that was derived from Chicago up and coming artists Kinky Notti, who are known for putting additional suffixes on the ends of certain words in their everyday language (i.e. weakery, weakalation, weakage, weaktastic, weaktabulous, and all forms of anything weakalated).

I love after this line, in the back Kanye yelling "That's too far nigga!" Hahaha.

General Comment:Used to love Jay's music. But this isn't doing it for me. (Neither is all the "hip-POP" on the radio). The first verse is alright. And then in the rest of the song there are a few good lines here and there, but I feel like he could have done so much more with the beat. The beat is a refreshing sound to hear in a hip hop song, but his flow sounds a little, idk...rusty? I give it 3 stars out of 5. Mainly b/c I do agree with the message in the song.

My Opinion:I think he sounds like a bitter old man in this song who can't take change. I like Jay-Z but come on.
Yeah I do think it was a dig at Kanye though, and that dude deserves it. Some of the shit he puts out. Jayzus.

A lot of musicians are really experimenting with sound right now, it's like it's become okay to do it again (when it wasn't for the majority of the nineties). I love it, and I'm hearing a lot of stuff that sounds like nothing I've ever heard before.

Kanye West, though, is not an innovator and not one of these amazing musicians I'm talking about. I agree with Jay-Z to an extent, but to another extent, music changes and sometimes older people just don't like what the younger kids are into. This is a really great song though. It's very artistic.

General Comment:I take this song as a direct attack on Kanye, the king of light rap and auto-tuning. Yeah I know he's Jay-Z's boy but I think Jay-Z just had enough of his lame ass. So no matter what Jay will say in public about this song, I think it's just him going OFF on Kanye to get it out of his system.

General Comment:The general idea behind this song is that Jay-Z feels that todays rappers are too soft ("i am a multi millionaire so how is it im still the hardest nigga here"), and that he is offically "killing" auto-tunes so that rappers (like Kayne) can "get back to rap" ("yeah this death of auto tune moment of silence").

    @ platan0

He is referring to Z100(pop radio station in NY). Saying his song is not for pop radio station Z100. Instead his song is gonna be played by Hot97, a hip hop and rap radio station in NY. Also, when he says, "ye told me to keep it 100", meaning that it was asked of him to tone down the song to get it more radio plays and get in pop100 weekly billboard charts.
