It's even louder in the silence
And it's always the same
The darkness always finds me
When I hear your name.

It should've been me
And I want you to know
That I'll hold you in my heart
And I won't let go.

Just take away this sorrow
It's too much to bear.

Drifting
From your memory
I'm lost
Lost without your love.

Now the tide goes by
(but the darkness remains)
If only I could wake and see your face again
There would be no more regret
For all the things I never said

Drifting
From your memory
I'm lost
Without your love

It's getting harder to face
Another day without you
I'm lost
Lost without your love

I wish I was as strong
As you were in the end
But the goodness claims me
And I fall once again

Drifting
From your memory
I'm lost
Without your love

It's getting harder to face (harder to face)
Another day without you
I'm lost
Without your love

It's getting harder to face (harder to face)
Another day without you
Lost.

General Comment:I disagree. I think the new CD has the most emotion put into it, which may be why it's not as heavy and there is less screaming. Now, As Daylight Dies is posibly there best based on length of the album and heaviness. Vocals depending on your preference. But the 2009 album is my favorite for, obviously, the emotion/lyrics, the way the music and vocals flow together, and composition of the songs. By that I mean the way it goes back and forth from an angry/frustrated song to a sad/hopless song. Lost is definitely my new favorite song from KSE, replacing The End of Heartache.

My Interpretation:You guys have got it all wrong!!!
Considering Howard Jones is a Christian...
Anyone who knows anything about christian
theology can interpret these lyrics as they
    should be interpreted.

My Interpretation:I think its about a boy who has lost his girlfriend.
And he cant let go of her, cant stop thinking about her.

    "The Darkness always finds me
    When I hear your name"

I think that is about how people ask if they are still together and his heart drops when he is pulled back to realising he's lost her.

    "It should have been me
And I want you to know
That I'll hold you in my heart
    And I won't let go"

Here he is saying that his girlfriend should of been with him not this new guy she's found.
But even though he's not with her, he will continue to love her forever.

    "Just take away this sorrow
    It's too much to bear"

here he is saying: if you wont take him back then just take the pain away.

    "Drifting, from your memory
I'm lost, lost without your love"

    she is forgetting about him.
he feels confused on what to do now that he has no lover. he doesnt know where to go or how to live.

    "Now the time goes by
    but the torment remains"

He was hoping he'd get over her as time went past but he still dies inside at not having her.

    "If only I could wake
    and see your face again
There would be no more regrets
For all the things I never said"

he wishes there was an easy way to get her back. he would do things right. he would say everything he needed to.

    "It's getting harder to face
    Another day without you"

    self explanitory tbh...

"I wish I was as strong
As you were in the end
    But the darkness claims me
    And I fall once again"

He wishes he could move on like her.
    but his depression stops him.

General Comment:I'm wondering whether it's about mourning a death or a break-up. 'It should've been me' and 'I wish I was strong as you were in the end'. I think this is really compassionate and shows that they're willing to die for that person and also showing that he believes that his partner was very strong as they were slowly killed by some sort of medical issue i guess.

Although the line in the chorus 'drifting from your memory' messes that theory up and explores the idea of a relationship slowly drifting apart rather than death. So it's hard to decide really.

General Comment:"But the darkness claims me and moves forward again" should be "But the darkness claims me and I fall once again".

General Comment:i would have to say the best song from their new album. when Howard sings "it shouldve been me" and "drifting from your memory" it completes the song. that is like the epic highlight of song.

the meanining is pretty straight forward

    Adam D. u fucking rock.

General Comment:"its here to face" should be "Its getting harder to face" and
'if only i could wait to see your face again' should be 'If only I could wake and see your face again'

I agree with rhysus. almost sounds to me like the guy loves a girl, and the two are close, but the girl ends up with another guy, and drifts away from him; "drifting from your memory". The whole song is just how the guy can't handle it, and he thinks it 'should have been him[me]'. seems like he also wishes he had told the girl how he felt; "if only i could wake and see your face again, there would be no more regret for all the things i never said"

Song Meaning:I think it's obvious that the song is about someone who died... "it should have been me", and "strong as you were in the end"

Possibly a connection to Rose of Sharyn?
