It's even louder in the silence
And it's always the same
The darkness always finds me
When I hear your name.
It should've been me
And I want you to know
That I'll hold you in my heart
And I won't let go.
Just take away this sorrow
It's too much to bear.
Drifting
From your memory
I'm lost
Lost without your love.
Now the tide goes by
(but the darkness remains)
If only I could wake and see your face again
There would be no more regret
For all the things I never said
Drifting
From your memory
I'm lost
Without your love
It's getting harder to face
Another day without you
I'm lost
Lost without your love
I wish I was as strong
As you were in the end
But the goodness claims me
And I fall once again
Drifting
From your memory
I'm lost
Without your love
It's getting harder to face (harder to face)
Another day without you
I'm lost
Without your love
It's getting harder to face (harder to face)
Another day without you
Lost.
And it's always the same
The darkness always finds me
When I hear your name.
It should've been me
And I want you to know
That I'll hold you in my heart
And I won't let go.
Just take away this sorrow
It's too much to bear.
Drifting
From your memory
I'm lost
Lost without your love.
Now the tide goes by
(but the darkness remains)
If only I could wake and see your face again
There would be no more regret
For all the things I never said
Drifting
From your memory
I'm lost
Without your love
It's getting harder to face
Another day without you
I'm lost
Lost without your love
I wish I was as strong
As you were in the end
But the goodness claims me
And I fall once again
Drifting
From your memory
I'm lost
Without your love
It's getting harder to face (harder to face)
Another day without you
I'm lost
Without your love
It's getting harder to face (harder to face)
Another day without you
Lost.

but wow, what happened?
as daylight dies is by far kse's best work.
Considering Howard Jones is a Christian...
Anyone who knows anything about christian
theology can interpret these lyrics as they
should be interpreted.
And he cant let go of her, cant stop thinking about her.
"The Darkness always finds me
When I hear your name"
I think that is about how people ask if they are still together and his heart drops when he is pulled back to realising he's lost her.
"It should have been me
And I want you to know
That I'll hold you in my heart
And I won't let go"
Here he is saying that his girlfriend should of been with him not this new guy she's found.
But even though he's not with her, he will continue to love her forever.
"Just take away this sorrow
It's too much to bear"
here he is saying: if you wont take him back then just take the pain away.
"Drifting, from your memory
I'm lost, lost without your love"
she is forgetting about him.
he feels confused on what to do now that he has no lover. he doesnt know where to go or how to live.
"Now the time goes by
but the torment remains"
He was hoping he'd get over her as time went past but he still dies inside at not having her.
"If only I could wake
and see your face again
There would be no more regrets
For all the things I never said"
he wishes there was an easy way to get her back. he would do things right. he would say everything he needed to.
"It's getting harder to face
Another day without you"
self explanitory tbh...
"I wish I was as strong
As you were in the end
But the darkness claims me
And I fall once again"
He wishes he could move on like her.
but his depression stops him.
Although the line in the chorus 'drifting from your memory' messes that theory up and explores the idea of a relationship slowly drifting apart rather than death. So it's hard to decide really.
the meanining is pretty straight forward
Adam D. u fucking rock.
'if only i could wait to see your face again' should be 'If only I could wake and see your face again'
I agree with rhysus. almost sounds to me like the guy loves a girl, and the two are close, but the girl ends up with another guy, and drifts away from him; "drifting from your memory". The whole song is just how the guy can't handle it, and he thinks it 'should have been him[me]'. seems like he also wishes he had told the girl how he felt; "if only i could wake and see your face again, there would be no more regret for all the things i never said"
Possibly a connection to Rose of Sharyn?
"it should have been me" It can mean that he wants to be the guys who is with his ex-gf.
"strong as you were in the end" It can mean that when the girl broke up with him, the girl didn't gave a shit...
But it can still be what you said :)
