Lyrics for Introducing Palace Players as interpreted by Pwahahaha

Introducing Palace Players Lyrics

In which we made sure no one got hurt.

What is it that you do?
You gotta get back up yourself.
We know so much.
So much we do.

No answer.

In a word,
You were told
That it'd fix your shaky home.
And what got made
Was broken, too.

Just a field with you,
Switching seats with you,
Tears us apart.
I don't want it to.

Some peculiar fix,
The two of us.
Counting us out,
I don't want it to.

Overnight, turned all grey.

What is it that you do?
You gotta get back up yourself.
We know so much,
So much we do.

No answer.

In a word
You were told,
That it'd fix your shaky home.
And what got made
Was broken, too.

Just a field with you,
Switching seats with you,
Tears us apart.
I don't want it to.

Some peculiar fix,
The two of us.
Counting us out,
I don't want it to.

Just a creed with you,
Switching seats with you
Tears us apart.
I don't want it to.

What are we going to do?
I'd really like it if you
Turn out the lights as we planned.
It's gonna hurt when we land.
I don't want it to.

Why did you go?
Lots of different reasons,
So many, you can't even count.
You think it's right,
Jumping off the see-saw.
Or did you just want it to be?

Why did you go?
Lots of different reasons,
So many, you can't even count.
You think it's right,
Jumping off the see-saw.
Or did you just want it to be?

This song is one of Mews best in my opinion, I love how it all binds together and the words just get to me.

I think its about a guy that hurt a girl somehow or tricked her but the lyrics seem to jump around a lot and I just dont see the whole picture sadly.

I really wish they'd post the lyrics for the single already. How long has it been out now? Someone said at the live gig it sounded like he sang "switching seeds". I still don't want to believe that, it changes the meaning of the song for me. But if it gives anyone an idea of what this song could be about it's worth a shot.

So I see that I'm not the only one who thought he said, "jumping off the see-saw".

As much as I love Mew and this song (november will be amazing indeed), I think the lyrics are pure bullshit. I mean that in the nicest sense, mind.

The words on this new album seem to be just thrown in the pot to fit with the music and perhaps create neat oneliners every now and then. That doesn't mean it's not an amazing album, for it is.

I might be wrong. There might be some meaning behind all of this, but I doubt it is the main point.

The meaning is in the title. I think the song is about gambling at the Palace in Vegas. Perhaps a poker tournament.

Not sure, may be a stretch but I like to see it that way.

Is this definitely the official lyrics? I would've nevah evah guessed "Or did you just want it to be?" I don't even hear it. Still a great song though!

Hmmm... This is a tough one to crack, in my opinion. I may be viewing the lyrics in a more literal sense, but I think it's about how a couple bickers all the time over small, petty reasons and one day the shit hits the fan and one of them leaves.
Who knows?... But that's what I got out of it.
P.S.- Great song, musically! :)

I don't know why but i think the video of this song is explaining the lyrics in another way...

the first phrase I think its "All a lie said me too..."
its obvious that he doesn't say
"In which we made sure no one got hurt"

even when it's official... it's wrong

I understood the song to be an argument between a man and woman about a difference of opinion in God...

the song starts off with a sloppy almost chaotic random beats (representing the idea of a non God [if you could imagine such a thing], a universe existing by accident). then comes the initial moment where the synth kicks in and the choir chimes in which would represents the order, self replicating universe we are to some degree aware of, Spinozist representation if you will...

the lyrics themselves would be a dialogue, where theres an exchange in which the protagonist seems to be an agnostic/athiest perhaps, who is in opposing views with the pious counterpart who appears to have befallen to some tragedy, yet the protagonist tries to reason with his or her counterpart -

if you analyze the lyrics closely with the perspective i had just explained its very clear-

the Protagonist asks: What is it that you do?
You gotta get back up yourself.
We know so much.
So much we do.

Pious Person: No answer.

Protagonist: In a word,
You were told
That it'd fix your shaky home. [the tragedy that occurred, whatever it was]
And what got made [it's a play with words, they were clearly saying the word God]
Was broken, too.

the Protagonist claims: Just a field with you, [in the essence of an expanding view beyond our vision, that being in God]
Switching seats with you,
Tears us apart.
I don't want it to.

the Protagonist rationalizes their relationship:
Some peculiar fix,
The two of us.
Counting us out,
I don't want it to.

Overnight, turned all grey. [The dimming of the relationship]

The Protagonist: Just a creed with you, [Mew specifically uses the word creed, which emphasis the point of a religious cause]
Switching seats with you
Tears us apart.
I don't want it to.

The Protagonist asks: What are we going to do?
I'd really like it if you
Turn out the lights
as we planned. [Perhaps in reference to lights in a room]
it's gonna hurt when we land. [this is used metaphorically, although it has a sense like in the music video having to deal with aliens, because it sounds like they were carrying out an emergency landing. although in the lyrics they're clearly stating an anticipation towards a harsh landing from their fall, or decline in their relationship]
I don't want it to.

The Protagonist asks: Why did you go?
Pious response: Lots of different reasons,
So many, you can't even count.
You think it's right,
Jumping off the see-saw.
Or did you just want it to be?

-----------

the lyrics may have nothing to do with my interpretation but it is how i come to understand it...
