Shake me into the night
And I'm an easy lover
Take me into the fight
And I'm uneasy brother
And I'm on fire

Burn my sweet effigy
I'm a road runner
Spill my guts on a wheel
I wanna taste uh-huh
And I'm on fire
And I'm on fire

And I'm on fire
I'm on fire

Wire me up to machines
I'll be your prisoner
Find it hard to believe
You are my murderer
I'm on fire behind you
Heads a fallen sky

I'm on fire
I'm on fire

I'm on fire
I'm on fire

Lyric Correction:I have a question as to the lyrics: whereever i search, i find the following two passages that Tom Meighan sings while "I'm on fire" is sung, before the "whooohooohooo....":

(Im going, you tell me, I feel it, I say it
I'm heading back into the tunnel for my soul to burn)

(I'm coming, you coming, no hiding, my feeling
I wanna take it to the highest over me, yeah...)

But this is just not what it sounds like, not at all, not even a little: it sounds like "I'm going, I feel, I want it, so real" and "I'm going, I feel, I want you so real".

I mean, he doesn't there aren't even enough syllables sung by Tom to be anywhere near all lyric pages...so what does he really sing?

    Thanks.

    General Comment:Hey,
I agree with willowsong, the beginning is sexy indeed :) It somehow reminds me of the rhythm of the night, dark spirits dancing around a fire... Can't find a better way to explain it. It somehow reminds me of Oliver Stone's movie The Doors too...

Also, I don't think the song is about drug addiction, not this one - some other form of addiction, yes. I'm finding it really hard to get a good interpretation though. Just a feeling that it's about somebody who is obsessed with something or somebody, willing to do anything, their blood 'boiling' - on fire because of this addiction. Like chasing something they are not supposed to, something forbidden, maybe something criminal. Something instinctual. They want to experience it so bad, they can't stop. They would become anything or anyone just to get to the object of their obsession. Maybe it's some sort of love or sexual addiction, I can somehow see sexual references in the lyrics too - but this might be a little bit too far fetched :)

    Anyway, how about the lines

Move on, you got to move on
You got to hit 'em to the lip
    And get your shake on
Move on, you got to move on
You got to hit 'em to the lip
    And get your shake on

being spoken by a doctor or a psychologist telling this person to take their meds, and forget about their obsession?

Anyway, this is my take on this song, let me know your thoughts.

Lyric Correction:Hey everyone, corrected lyrics should be up very soon, including the background vocals that no one can seem to interpret.

Song Meaning:I think the song is about opiate addiction. Firstly I think the first line is also misinterpreted and is actually "Take me into the night and I'm an easy lover" and that it means that being on opiates feels like being in the arms of a metaphorical lover.

"Take me into the fight and I'm an easy brother" refers to the confidence or help with pain that opiates brings to a fight or if injured.

"Burn my sweet effigy" is the burning of heroin or opium to smoke.

"Spill my guts on a wheel I wanna taste uh-huh" I think should be "I wanna taste of her" and is talking about being dopesick and needing to taste the drug to relieve the sickness.

"I'm on fire" is the horrible feeling of withdrawal, like a fire burning the skin and of a fever burning you up.

"Wire me up to machines I'll be your prisoner" A prisoner of addiction.

"Find it hard to believe You are my murderer" I think it means that it's hard to believe something that can make you feel so good as opiates do can also kill you.

"Move on, You got to move on I'm gonna get you real good So you can shake on" Get you real good also refers to the opiates taking you and giving you the shakes in withdrawal.

This is my interpretation of this song. All comments, positive or negative are welcome.

General Comment:Not sure about in the actual song, but live he says:

And I know, and I feel, and I want it, so real (surreal?)
(I kick it back into your/the side?)
(Just check it back into the/your side?)

He either changes it live or I just can't tell exactly what he says...but on record he says things along the lines of:

I want it, you take it, I feel it, I sang it, I bring it back into your circle now, the circle (???)
And I know, (that/and) you know, (and I want to/that you want to) and I feel it, I want take it to ya' as something (???)...Again, I'm not sure about alot of it. Hope it helps you guys figure it out.
