Lyrics for Blinding as interpreted by KatherineKissMe

Blinding Lyrics
Seems that I have been held, in some dreaming state
A tourist in the waking world, never quite awake
No kiss, no gentle word could wake me from this slumber
Until I realise that it was you who held me under

Felt it in my fist, in my feet, in the hollows of my eyelids
Shaking through my skull, through my spine and down through my ribs

No more dreaming of the dead as if death itself was undone
No more calling like a crow for a boy, for a body in the garden
No more dreaming like a girl so in love, so in love
No more dreaming like a girl so in love, so in love
No more dreaming like a girl so in love with the wrong world

And I could hear the thunder and see the lightning crack
All around the world was waking, I never could go back
Cos all the walls of dreaming, they were torn right open
And finally it seemed that the spell was broken

And all my bones began to shake, my eyes flew open
And all my bones began to shake, my eyes flew open

No more dreaming of the dead as if death itself was undone
No more calling like a crow for a boy, for a body in the garden
No more dreaming like a girl so in love, so in love
No more dreaming like a girl so in love, so in love
No more dreaming like a girl so in love with the wrong world

Snow White's stitching up the circuitboards
Synapse slipping through the hidden door
Snow White's stitching up the circuitboard

No more dreaming of the dead as if death itself was undone
No more calling like a crow for a boy, for a body in the garden
No more dreaming like a girl so in love, so in love
No more dreaming like a girl so in love, so in love
No more dreaming like a girl so in love with the wrong world

Snow White's stitching up the circuitboards
Synapse slipping through the hidden door
Snow White's stitching up the circuitboard
Synapse slipping through the hidden door

okaay, it's;

'no more calling like a crow for a boy for a body in the garden'

and i think it might just be;
'no more dreaming like a girl so in love, so in love'

'cause all the worlds were dreaming, they were torn right open'

and as for the 'someone's switching of the circuitboards' i have NO idea what she says there, though i'm not sure whether what you put is right or not..

but i do know it's 'slipping through the hidden dark' on the second line.
to me it sounds like she says 'Snow white's ...'

well, we'll soon know when the album is released! :)

x

Thanks for your help guys, working from live versions is a pain in the arse! But as for the middle section, even on the album version I'm unclear what she says, so I'm sticking to the 'circuitboards' lines hahaha.

Hey I'm pretty sure it's

"a tourist in the waking world"

"no more cawing like a crow"

and I second the snow white bit

"snow-white's stitching up his circuit-boards"

and I'm equally as stumped on who's slipping through the door, thought it was "Saddam" but it just doesn't seem relevant to me... Really good job of it though! I hadn't a clue it was garden!

The 'tourist' and 'snow-white's' bits were what I was coming to comment about, and I agree with you there.
'Cawing' seems logical, too, now that I think about it.

For the 'slipping through the door' line, though, I just can't tell.

I almost want to say that it's 'synapse', with the 'y' being stressed, but I can't tell for sure, and it may not be relevant either.

My favourite on the album by far
So different to everything else on there
And this song is even more brilliant live
Florence is legend!

i think its synapse too
it makes sense if you think of snow white as being cocaine messing up someones brain (circuit boards)
thats what it always seems to be to me anyway

I love this song.

I always think it's about a girl whose boyfriend or lover has died, and she keeps dreaming of him as if he were alive or that she has sunk into a depression.
'No more dreaming of the dead as if death itself was undone
No more calling like a crow for a boy, for a body in the garden'

She understands that he can't hold her under forever so she wakes aware that she could 'never could go back'

I'm not sure, that's just how I see it. 8D

The first part to me just seems so obvious as to the fact she's dreaming, and suddenly shes woke up. she's come to realize something.

"No more calling like a crow for a boy, for a body in the garden"
-sounds to me she was calling out for a boy who wasn't really there to begin with. maybe she was chasing him but emotionally he was never really there.

"No more dreaming like a girl so in love with the wrong world"
-just seems "wrong world" could just be representing something like a fantasy.

"And I could hear the thunder and see the lightning crack
All around the world was waking, I never could go back
Cos all the walls of dreaming, they were torn right open
And finally it seemed that the spell was broken"

--she's no longer naieve.

"And all my bones began to shake, my eyes flew open
And all my bones began to shake, my eyes flew open"

--she's finally woken.

just my thoughts and what the song means to me.

This song is about being blinded by love and she describes the whole waking up process when you realise that the one you love has manipulated/betrayed/lied and kept you blinded by their 'love'.
and No more dreaming like a girl so in love, so in love .. as in learning that you cannot have little fairy tell dreams of love which you were brought up with since childhood.. because they just dont exist: No more dreaming like a girl so in love with the wrong world.
Its just a waking up to reality song physically and mentally.
all the lyrics about death are because breaking up is a dying process.
into a new rebirth.. or so i interpret this song as.
most lyrically deep song on the album.
AMAZING SHE IS!

i only come to realise how great and beautiful this song is after reading some of the comments and interpretation here.

this is my intepretation of the song..
it's about a girl that is in denial that her lover is dead.
She still mourns for him although he's long gone.
she is stuck in this restless half awake half a sleep state.
no consolation can end her grief nor can pull her back to reality.
she realise and understood that it was him that is causing her to be in this state
even when he's dead she can still "feel" him in her halucinating state.

as she sang in the 1st chorus,
although he's gone, she can still feels that he is alive.
she even forgets that she buried him.
and only throught this state they are able to be together in same space and time.

in the 2nd verse
time has passed and she is more aware and lucid of the happenings around her
yet when everyone has long stop mourning, deep inside she knew she still can't let go of him
the people around her didn't give up on her and persisted to bring her back to reality.
their effort was successful as she began to stop halucinating about him
however her new found state shocked her immensely and causes her to realise that

as she sang the 2nd chorus
she could not halucinate him being alive anymore,
or she won't be able to cry a tear for him infront of his grave anymore
and worst still she won't be able to be with him in the same space and time anymore.

desperate, she inturn turns to drugs to regain her halucinations
the more she take the more heighten her halucinations become
and finally she found the way to be with him again.
but this time it's forever...(here onwards i would interpret that she has OD and died)

in the last chorus,
she is happy that she doesn't need to halucinate about him being alive anymore
she is happy that she won't need to cry at his grave anymore
cos this time, she is already together in the same world as him.

this is indeed a dark dark song ...
