Lyrics for Young Hearts Spark Fire as interpreted by rooney131

Young Hearts Spark Fire Lyrics
We finished our own lives
Now we finished off the wine
Now we're used to staying up all night
Two hearts beating OH YEAH! OH YEAH!

Well you can keep tomorrow
after tonight we're not gonna need it
Be there! (be there)
Be down! (be down)
Background, we're too drunk to feel it

OOOOHHH!!!
We used to dream
Now we worry about dying

I don't wanna worry about dying
I just wanna worry about those sunshine girls

YOUNG HEARTS!
SPARK FIRE!
ALL NIGHT!
OH YEAH! OH YEAH!

Well you can keep tomorrow
after tonight we're not gonna need it
Be there! (be there)
Be down! (be down)
Background, we're too drunk to feel it

OOOOHHH!!!
We used to dream
Now we worry about dying

I don't wanna worry about dying
I just wanna worry about sunshine girls

OOOOHHH!!!

I don't wanna worry about dying
I just wanna worry about the sunshine girls

I don't know how i didnt see it,i mean of course this song has a meaning but it has a semi deep meaning dude, and its so obvious
Pretty much its like this young couple was not going out but then now they are and then they use to just dream about being together and what life would be like together but now that they have today they don't need tomorrow and they are worried that they are going to die and will no longer be with each other and they jut want to go back to the time where they only worried about things that were trivial

it's clearly:

beat up! (beat up)
beat down! (beat down)
walking 'round but too drunk to feel it

I doubt the lyrics were intended to be analyzed to the level that some of you seem to be doing it. When I think of Japandroids, I just think of being young, free, and having a good time.
Sure their lyrics are awesome, but their purpose seems to be more in backing up the music than standing out on their own.

I have a slightly different interpretation of this song. It seems plausible that the song is about living the rock and roll lifestyle, which, as kids, they used to dream about. This lifestyle, which they are now living, consists of hot girls, drinking and cocaine--the later of which they are "too drunk to feel it". They used to worry about how they would support themselves as adults; now, however, all they worry about is ODing on booze and drugs.

bahoevel is completely wrong.

the band was about to break up when they hit it big. They were not "living the life" at all.
It's been said in interviews that basically the shows they were doing were in front of all their friends and that's it, so he wanted to keep the lyrics simple and not feel embarrassed talking about his current gf.

this song is about partying though.
It's about having a day job ("We finished our own lives"), and then going out anyways afterward and just getting shitfaced. (no quote needed i think, since half the song is about this haha)

It's also about their struggle (or many peoples' struggle) to find direction once you're older. They were in a band just like they'd always dreamed ("We used to dream"), partying and having fun, but they are not making any headway, and they keep getting older and are beginning to realise it ("I don't wanna worry about dying"), and, like most in the same position, have decided to ignore it ("i just wanna worry about sunshine girls").

excellent song by the way.
