I also think that it's 'followed the hunt, far as I could' instead of 'for all the hunt, far as I could' and it could be 'once again I'm on the run', not 'wants to get out on the run'. I hear something about 'drifted wood' after 'through dozen weathers', but I'm not too sure about that one...
and it's clearly "I hear you, but I'm not afraid of you" instead of "I fear you"

It's partly about a boy fighting in the Iraq war, and partly a reworking of 'The Barghest', a reference to killing the animal with a silver bullet, which is how you kill a werewolf.

I hear "I fear you, but I'm not afraid of you." as well. I remember in sunday school as a kid being taught the difference between "fearing" god and "being afraid of" god, and I'm pretty sure this is what he is referencing..."fear" is more profound...
