this song is amazing, its also amazingly written, can't wait for the new album

This is awesome. Definitely reminds me of their old stuff- can't wait for the new album too. I read somewhere that Toby said this song was about being in a relationship and making it your whole life, and these kind of relationships usually end up in doom, such a great thing becomes a tragedy.

There's so much emotion in this song, really. It kind of makes me want to dance and scream at the same time. <.> I think my favorite lines are these:

Well,of course im no expert on interpeting the meanings behind Emerys songs... but I think this has something to do with a Marriage or something of the sort... "Outside you will find the ring that once belonged to me"... and that the girl in the relationship knows she is doing something wrong "claiming past loves and regrets" and when he says "if its grey then just leave it some colors start bleeding" maybe he just wants her to leave the grey areas of her life out of this new relationship and when he says "Some colors start bleeding" that means she is brining up the grey areas of her past love life. I just thought of giving it a shot ty for reading! and please I hope someone else trys to interpret this

I think it's about a guy who was obsessing over a relationship, and the girl broke his heart. Now this is him overreacting to it "if I should die."

Her lies all seemed so sincere and true at the time he was told them and now that he knows the truth, he feels he only has himself. He's trying to get out of and escape the relationship, but he isn't sure how.the hands he once held for stability and a strong foundation has left an impact and imprint on him. but what he believed was his 'anchor' and stability wasn't real, without stability he can't stay a float and he is the one who is suffering from her lies and sinks in her sea of selfish lies.the past isn't far behind him, it's closely following him. his past wont leave him alone, it's haunting him. he didnt plan for it to be this way, at all but felt as if it was the only way.he had to walk away from the relationship compromise in his head he is considering the options to end and ways to finalize the relationship and marriage. he leaves her and leaves his wedding ring to show her that it is over and to finalize it for himself also in a way. and i think in the chorus he is driving away and in his car he has pictures of him and her. and he is thinking in the back of his head if she would just give him one reason to stay he might, but he decides he doesn't want to hear what she has to say at the time. I also think that as he is driving he is thinking how she played him and acted as if this was just a game. But to him it wasn’t a game. She meant everything to him, and he’s serious about his feelings. So now they both are pointing their fingers at someone else, trying to blame it on them. She can’t see clearly how much it all meant to him. He feels as if he was invisible in her plans, as if he wasn’t a factor nor concluded. But when he wasn’t invisible she always analyzed him critically. It was like he was tied to the dream of her by a rope, and he couldnt stray away from the dream of her, because of the rope restricted him from doing so. But that rope is disappearing. I’m sure really what the symbolism for the grey is in the song but my thought is since Gray imparts void, emptiness, sorrow, and lack of movement, emotion, warmth and identifying characteristics. Because of this, gray can be restful. It has a detached and isolated feeling so maybe it’s saying if something’s or someone is filled with sorrow, emptiness or contains a lack of emotion or warmth to others don’t waste your time, walk away. And like some colors start bleeding, some people just start to fade, and broken. Don’t let yourself become one of the color that has begun to bleed. To guard yourself to make sure you don’t allow that to happen to you. I think he might be saying that that’s what happened to her, that she lost her flair. She always defended her secret, letting no one in, keeping everything to her self. Leaving her to become isolated. She was claiming her past loves and regrets. She hid her goal and objective to protect her from any of the blame. The words she used to speak moved heaven and earth in his eyes, what she had to say use to mean so much to him, but after all the lies nothing he hears from her mouth he believes. her lies all felt so true, but they were a just a sea of words without a meaning. Her solution to things is to run and hide from her problems, but he wants her to face her problems. He doesn’t want to wait for the kiss he has been wanting. Acting as if there was deep, strong feelings to make the moments last. Because time runs out. Life is short. So break from the crowd, be your own person. Leave all the sarcastic and insincere people. Do what you yearn for before your times runs out.
