A falling star fell from your heart and landed in my eyes
I screamed aloud, as it tore through them, and now it's left me blind
The stars, the moon, they have all been blown out
You left me in the dark
No dawn, no day, I'm always in this twilight
In the shadow of your heart
And in the dark, I can hear your heartbeat
I tried to find the sound
But then it stopped, and I was in the darkness,
So darkness I became
The stars, the moon, they have all been blown out
You left me in the dark
No dawn, no day, I'm always in this twilight
In the shadow of your heart
I took the stars from our eyes, and then I made a map
And knew that somehow I could find my way back
Then I heard your heart beating, you were in the darkness too
So I stayed in the darkness with you
The stars, the moon, they have all been blown out
You left me in the dark
No dawn, no day, I'm always in this twilight
In the shadow of your heart
The stars, the moon, they have all been blown out
You left me in the dark
No dawn, no day, I'm always in this twilight
In the shadow of your heart

I think this song is about her falling so hard for someone that she feels like she doesn't exist outside of her love for him. She is, in effect, blinded my her love (a falling star fell from his heart, and landed in my eyes) and is imprisoned in darkness and twilight, because he doesn't feel anything for her and she can't pull away. She eventually musters the strength to begin to move on (I took the stars from my eyes, and then I made a map, and I knew that somehow I could find my way back), but he suddenly joins her in the darkness. Her twilight is a place of sadness, and his presence there signifies that he is sad and lonely as well (perhaps due to a break up or some sort of tragedy). But - he has noticed her, and rather than leave him in the darkness to free herself and get on with her life, she stays behind with him.
It's a dark song, but IT'S JUST SO DAMN BEAUTIFUL
I screamed aloud, as it tore through them, and now it's left me blind"
She was consumed instantly by the love she felt for the guy. All she could "see" was him. But while with him, whether it was because of him or not, she was in a bad state of mind. She was in the dark.
"The stars, the moon, they have all been blown out
You left me in the dark
No dawn, no day, I'm always in this twilight
In the shadow of your heart
And in the dark, I can hear your heartbeat
I tried to find the sound
But then it stopped, and I was in the darkness,
So darkness I became"
"But then it stopped" I think refers to the idea that because of her depression or changed attitude, he left her.
"I took the stars from my eyes, and then I made a map
And knew that somehow I could find my way back
Then I heard your heart beating, you were in the darkness too
So I stayed in the darkness with you"
This part refers to her trying to make better of her life by taking the stars from her eyes (taking the light, or what makes her happy and getting back on to a better life). But she somehow sees that the guy that she still loves is also in pain. He is depressed. And because she understands these feelings, she stays with him. She doesn't want to feel happiness if he can't either.
I screamed aloud, as it tore through them, and now it's left me blind
(that s when she first met him,she got a crush on him, being attracted to the better self of his(star),she just somehow knew that he would hurt her,she screamed aloud as she couldn t help from falling in love with him,and finally she surrendered herself to him, blind, ignoring her first instict.)
The stars, the moon, they have all been blown out
You left me in the dark
No dawn, no day, I'm always in this twilight
In the shadow of your heart
(all this beauty of love collpased,as he started getting bored of her maybe, depressed for many reasons.at first he was enthousiastic with her as much as she did,but then he started feeling depressed again(maybe he suffers from depression sometimes, even before he met her)and didn t communicate with her anymore, maybe he wouldn't show that he cared at all, maybe he loves her, maybe he used to love her,who knows, now he s in the dark, depressed.so she s all alone in this relationship, she loves him,but she lives in the shadow of his heart..)
And in the dark, I can hear your heartbeat
I tried to find the sound
But then it stopped, and I was in the darkness,
So darkness I became
(he sometimes shows love, but this is on and off,so when he gets cold again, she s sad and left in the darkness of love pain.)
I took the stars from my eyes, and then I made a map
And knew that somehow I could find my way back
(she tried to save herself from all this pain,to pul herself together, get strong and leave him so as she would be released from all this sh*t)
Then I heard your heart beating, you were in the darkness too
So I stayed in the darkness with you
(then she realised that he loves her back, but he s too depressed to fulfill her expectations in their relationship,he s like a zombie,he used to love her and if he was still alive in his heart maybe everything was alright.she loved him too, very much,so her love was proven bigger than saving herself.)
something like that, every word in this song is like my heart's words towards the man that i love.so,this is how i get those lyrics. :)
I screamed aloud, as it tore through them, and now it's left me blind"
The singer really falls in love with someone, and now they're blinded to the existence of anyone else. This sucks if you can no longer be with that other person for one reason or another.
"The stars, the moon, they have all been blown out
You left me in the dark
No dawn, no day, I'm always in this twilight
In the shadow of your heart"
The singer is now left alone, unable to love anyone else after being so effected by this person.
"And in the dark, I can hear your heartbeat
I tried to find the sound
But then it stopped, and I was in the darkness,
So darkness I became"
The singer tried to connect to the person they love, but that person was so distant they couldn't reach them. The singer realizes how alone this has left them, and they become bitter at their situation.
"I took the stars from our eyes, and then I made a map
And knew that somehow I could find my way back
Then I heard your heart beating, you were in the darkness too
So I stayed in the darkness with you"
The singer learned to get over that person and move on with their life, but just as they decide to so, they finally understand why the other person is in the darkness too, having lived in it themselves, and they resign to stay with that person now that they can understand each other.
(This is all based heavily on my own life experience, so I don't know if it's the true meaning, but it makes sense to me.)
A falling star fell from your heart and landed in my eyes
I screamed aloud, as it tore through them, and now it's left me blind
(She literally has stars in her eyes falling for this person and is blinded by her love for him, not seeing the damage he has done)
The stars, the moon, they have all been blown out
You left me in the dark
No dawn, no day, I'm always in this twilight
In the shadow of your heart
(Now, instead of happiness...she is always in this depressed darkness...always in a state of twilight)
And in the dark, I can hear your heartbeat
I tried to find the sound
But then it stopped, and I was in the darkness,
So darkness I became
(She knows his toxicness is darkness also...instead of pulling him out of it, she becomes a negative person as well--succumbing to the ugliness)
The stars, the moon, they have all been blown out
You left me in the dark
No dawn, no day, I'm always in this twilight
In the shadow of your heart
I took the stars from our eyes, and then I made a map
And knew that somehow I could find my way back
Then I heard your heart beating, you were in the darkness too
So I stayed in the darkness with you
(She feels hopeful that she can leave, or sees the hope in the relationship that it can be saved...then she is reminded of him and stays and becomes content in where they are...not attempting to fix it and complacent in the darkness)
