I'd do anything that I'm told to
I'd even mean it if I'm supposed to
Leave me on a little
I go for broke
Leave me on some more
I'd go for the big toke

Everybody's watching oh but nobody cares
Oh wait cause no
Nobody's watching but everybody cares
Oh whatever talk to you later

[Chorus]
Look out!
Cause I'm just too fake for the world
I know it's just a game to me
I'm just too fake you see
I wish I didn't have to be but watch out
I got too much soul for the world
It's breaking my heart in two
I got too much soul for you
I don't like it but it's true

Get off
I go to church and
I'm expected to be lost soul
They need examples to use
I could stay forever leave right now
It's your call either way
It's time to use my life for myself
(most people just won't tell you that)
I'm gonna use my life for someone else, yeah
No wait wait wait wait

[Chorus]

Hurts right?

But I can't even talk to you
About my effect on people
Cause I'm doing the same thing to you
That's right even right now
Oh just wait up for me if you want to but

[Chorus]

Oh look out now
I'm just too fake for the world
And there's nothing I can do about it
Yeah I'm just too fake for you
I don't like it but it's true

Look out
I got too much soul for the world
It's breaking my heart in two
I got too much soul for you
I don't like it but it's true

Look out
I'm just too fake for the world
I know it's just a game to me
I'm just to fake you see
I hope you can forgive me

Look out now
I'm too fake

General Comment:I seriously rewrote this three times. I think this song is about not being true to yourself, and kind of living entirely by the standards parents/guardians/society/record labels (since they're ironically signed to Capital Records).

"I do anything that I'm told to" - a life entirely controlled not by the person but the source I guess?

"I go to Church as I'm expected to" - lol. i don't know a lot of people who actually enjoy going to church, so I feel like it's one of those standards his/the characters life. so again, going by the rules/what's viewed as morally correct in his/that society.

i feel like it could also be a satire towards all the bands that are "selling out" as well... i like my first theory more :)

General Comment:I love this song so much, i listen to it everyday. Being a Californian, i know for a fact that this song can symbolize the life of many Americans. We're too fake, we claim to believe in God but blind and deaf to the principles of Christianity, and lastly we are completely ignorant to our actions and how they affect society, we are only living for money. We're all money-hungry capitalist.

General Comment:7 Comments!!!!! No, this song is amazing. I personally like rock a little bit more, but I absolutely LOVE Hockey. I like the way he likes the lyrics:
    "Everybody's watchin'
    Oh but nobody cares no

    Nobody's watchin'
But everybody cares" those are some of my favorite lyrics of all songs. We all know that's how society works. You say you "care" about something important, but they're just words, but when something's a real matter for people and dwe should help, everybody has better insignificant things to do.

I think is about (as said before) about doing what everybody else wants, what everybody likes, even if is pathetic and you're being fake. And this song is a turning point where you realize that you have to be fake, but you don't want to, so you look for REAL help, but you can't find it. But still, he tries to be real, because he's got too much soul.

It also sounds funny, like saying how great, and how pleasent it is to be fake and arrogant at the same time, while you understand is just a big JOKE!!
"Oh whatever talk to you later"

General Comment:This song is really amazing. Somehow it's interesting and confuse at the same time, but in a good sense :)
    I love it!

Btw, does anyone know the lyrics for Hockey's song "Learn To Lose"? I can't find them anywhere!
    Tks.
    :)

General Comment:I like how he says:

But I can't even talk to you
    'bout my effect on people
'cause i'm doin' the same thing to you
    That's right even right now

It's like saying that even though this song is about how he has to put on an act for people and be fake, he's doing it in this song anyway. So it's like, what can we trust?

    Interesting :) & so catchy!

My Interpretation:I think the key to this song lies with this lyric: "Oh you know it's just a game to me" There are some ancient religions who view life as a game. So this seemingly unholy view of the world is actual spiritual in nature which is why he's says he's got too much soul for the world.
How he plays the game is he stays light and tells people what they want to hear adhering to the path of least resistance "I do anything that I'm told to
I even mean it, if i'm supposed to"
...but he knows the truth: "It's time to use my life, for myself, Those people just won't tell you that"

"But I can't even talk to you 'bout my effect on people 'cause i'm doin' the same thing to you
That's right even right now" This is a great line where he tries to see if other people will understand him but of course people won't.

    This song is awesome.
