Lover when you don't lay with me
I'm a huntress for a husband lost at sea
If I had you here, we were here together
I'd be boy and you'd be girl, beautiful

Calling moon and moon
Shoot that big bad hand
It'll drag me to your door
Now I won't see you no more

When this wild world is a big bad hand
Pushing me on my back do you understand
When I get home being in the jungle
Where's my bear to lick me clean
Feed my soul milk and honey

Calling moon and moon
Shoot that big bad hand
It'll drag me to your door
Now I won't see you no more

I won't see you no more

    My Interpretation:

    Moon and Moon

-this song is about the overwhelming hardships of life and her lover leaves her instead of helping her.

"Lover, when you don't lay with me
I'm a huntress for a husband lost at sea
If I had you here, braid our hair together
I'd be boy and you'd be girl, beautiful"

This first verse talks about how she is left alone again but misses his presence, misses sleeping with him and she sings about how they are that comfortable with each other that they role play and braiding each others hair is very intimate.

    "Calling moon and moon
    Shoot that big bad hand
It'll track me to your door
And I won't see you no more"

-First off I believe she says it'll "track" me to your door, not drag like someone else wrote. Track makes more sense as the big bad hand is her life weighing heavy on her. If the big bad hand tracks her she can't be rid of it and wants someone to shoot it otherwise when she goes home to her lover it will inevitably make him leave her. So "I won't see you no more" is a sadness as she can't get the world off her back and the boyfriend won't help.

    "When this wild world
    Is a big bad hand
    Pushing on my back
    Do you understand?"

-This is where she explains what the big bad hand means. When life gets her down and she is feeling the weight of the world she asks if he can understand.

    "When I get home
    Down in the jungle
Where's my bear to lick me clean?
Feed my soul milk and honey"

-This verse is a cry for help, she asks after her day has been hard out working all she looks for is her mate, her "bear", to wash away the day by licking her clean. She wants him to nurture her soul and replenish it's energy by feeding it, she asks for him to be tender and caring. But he does not help her instead he disappears.

    "Calling moon and moon
    Shoot that big bad hand
It'll track me to your door
And I won't see you no more
I won't see you no more"

-When she calls to the two moons she is calling to the heavens and earth. The time when we can see two moons is by the moon in the sky reflected in water on earth. So she calls to the earth and sky to help her shoot or kill the heaviness of the day of life and if it tracks her to his door, she knows her burdens will not only make him leave but she will also not see him because she is to enshrouded by her woes.

General Comment:I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with what was intended, but the this song makes me think of the game Hearts. For those who haven't played, its a card game, in which the goal is to get as few points as possible. All of the heart cards are worth one point, and the Queen of Spades is worth 13 points. The one exception is if you manage to collect all of the hearts AND the queen, so that you'd get the full 26 points - then you get 0 points, and everyone else gets 26. This is called "shooting the moon," and you have to have just the right hand and the right luck to pull it off - and its always risky because if other players realize what you're doing they'll try to take one for the team, and take a point or two, so you're left with 24-25.

    "Calling moon and moon
    Shoot that big bad hand"

The proximity of "shoot that big bad hand" to the line about the moon just brings up that connection in my head. I can think of other ways a metaphor like this could fit; if he's shooting the moon he's collecting "hearts"; its also the only time he'd want the queen, which it occured to me could fit if she was the queen - the only time he wants her is when he's also after a lot of other people, or to win something - also the line:

    "When this wild world
    Is a big bad hand
    Pushing on my back"

Seems like something that could fit with a playing card as well, with the back facing everyone - and hoping that he shoots the moon and takes her and wins - although it he fails, things could all fall apart.

General Comment:"Lover, when you don't lay with me
I'm a huntress for a husband lost at sea"

When her lover doesn't come home or "sleep" with her, she becomes worried, anxious, and wants to find him.
This also implies that he may be having an affair (not "laying" with her, or having sex with her anymore) Or at least she thinks he is.

    "If I had you here
    Braid our hair together
I'd be boy and you'd be girl
    Beautiful"

If her lover were there, she thinks they would be having fun like braiding each other's hair. Pretending she was the boy and he was the girl... sort of playful innocence. That she sees, is beautiful.

    "Calling moon and moon
    Shoot that big bad hand
It'll drag me to your door
And I won't see you no more"

I feel like the "big bad hand" is a symbolism for her feelings of doubt, loneliness, and unhappiness. Those feelings will lead her towards leaving him, but she doesn't want to leave him. She wants to "shoot" those negative feelings down, or else it will unwillingly lead her to leaving his "door".

    "When this wild world
    Is a big bad hand
    Pushing on my back
    Do you understand?"

The big bad hand again is her feelings of negativity, which is pushing on her back each time her lover doesn't come home...

    "When I get home
    From being in the jungle
Where's my bear to lick me clean?
Feed my soul milk and honey"

She is wondering where her lover is. He is supposed to be there to take care of her, love, and nourish her. But again, he is nowhere to be found.

    "Calling moon and moon
    Shoot that big bad hand
It'll drag me to your door
And I won't see you no more

I won't see you no more"

If this continues, the feelings of loneliness will be too much to bear and it will lead her to leave him, thus she won't see him anymore.

This song is so beautiful and melancholy. You can really feel her loneliness and pain. She really loves this guy, but he continues to disappoint her. She really doesn't want to leave him, and will shoot her negative feelings down, but if this continues, then she really will leave him.

General Comment:Oh, this so song is so beautiful. Stunning, in fact, like every song of hers, but this stands out to me because it's so simple instrumentally.

General Comment:A bear is a symbol of aggression, but also when you consider the cuddly toys they can represent protection/security (think about the emotional attatchment and feelings of your own cuddly toy if you have one. Maybe that's the kind of person she distinguished her boyfriend to be. I also think the bear/bat idea comes from native american spirit guides...I know she's quite interested in mythology.

Although it's not in this song, notice how she uses the idea of a Queen alot too? In Moon and Moons album, she plays the part of the queen and W is the king, it's mentioned in her dedication on two suns too.

I think this relationship was one of the most important events of Natasha's life so far and possibly even brought her to this stage. While this album is tinged with sadness and confusion, I think there's a lot of understanding and gratitude to W.

General Comment:i always wonder, do you think since natasha refers to herself as the bat, that her boyfriend is the bear?

there are other references to bears in her songs, i've noticed.

"where's my bear to lick me clean? feed my soul milk and honey?"

those are obviously very nurturing lyrics. i love this song.
