Lyrics for Over My Head (Cable Car) (Fray cover) as interpreted by rockcitydrug

Over My Head (Cable Car) (Fray cover) Lyrics
I never knew
I never knew that everything was falling through
That everyone I knew was waiting on a cue
To turn and run when all I needed was the truth
But that's how it's got to be
It's coming down to nothing more than apathy
I'd rather run the other way than stay and see
The smoke and who's still standing when it clears

Everyone knows I'm in
Over my head, over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind, she's on your mind

Let's rearrange
I wish you were a stranger I could disengage
Say that we agree and then never change
Soften a bit until we all just get along
But that's disregard
Find another friend and you discard
As you lose the argument in a cable car
Hanging above as the canyon comes between

Everyone knows I'm in
Over my head, over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind, she's on your mind

Everyone knows I'm in
Over my head, over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind, she's on your mind
She's on your mind

Suddenly I become a part of your past
I'm becoming the part that don't last
I'm losing you and it's effortless

Without a sound we lose sight of the ground
In the throw around
Never thought that you wanted to bring it down
I won't let it go down till we torch it ourselves

Everyone knows I'm in
Over my head, over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind, she's on your mind
She's on your mind

Everyone knows I'm in
Over my head, over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind, she's on your mind

Everyone knows I'm in
Over my head, over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind, she's on your mind

i loved the fray version in seventh grade.
now the a day to remember version is def. a lot better to me :)
the lyrics are what makes it though..
anyway, i think it's about a guy who's in love with a girl.
and everyone knows it.
and everyone is telling him that he's "in over his head".
the people he thought he could depend on, are now abandoning him.
and he doesn't want to deal with it anymore.
the girl is causing him so much hurt,
and he wishes he didn't know her so he could just forget about her.
..but that isn't going to happen.
he's only got a short amount of time left to make things work with her.
definitely sums up my life currently.

I've never been a big The Frey fan... But this song always kind of came off as halfway decent to me... This cover is nothing short of fucking amazing!!... A Day To Remember did an amazing job... Not that I'm surprised... I love everything they do... :D:D

Wow. This song is absolutely amazing. The Frey did an awesome job with it, but it seemed lacking. This cover fills that hole with the amazing vocal work and astounding instrumentals. WOW.

In meaning, I feel the song is about a man and a woman, she wants something more than a friendship, and the man has feelings for her, but his friends think he is in over his head, and basically leave him to his own devices and don't try to encourage him. She then is ready to leave, realizing a friendship isn't what she wants, and it comes down to him admitting his feelings for her to her.

never was a fan of the fray, although I've always liked this song by them, and it's pretty awesome that one of my favorite bands covered it, and covered it well
probably the best cover on the punk goes pop cd imo :)

best fucking cover ever!
ADTR kicked the frays ass, but this is a good song by the fray, just better by ADTR.
Jeremy McKinnon shits theses lyrics out of his mouth in the most amazing way ever.
he goes from screaming to soft like nothing.

i <3 A day to Remember.

It's weird, every time ADTR covers a song, the lyrics sound like THEY wrote the song. Especially Since U Been Gone. That was the craziest thing I heard, how they could sing a Kelly Clarkson song, make it sound better, and at the same time, speak the lyrics as if it came from Jeremy McKinnon first. o.O

They did the same thing with the Fray, and I love it! Shows how good of a band A Day to Remember really is, you know? And to think they actually fit in the screaming parts well! I love the screams in this song, and I disagree with most people about those parts. Just because the original is softer and more mainstream, doesn't mean that A Day to Remember can't give it a little more flavor. I love it.
