Sister Evangeline is sweet on me
And she and I both know I'm pledged towards celibacy
And I'll keep thinking of her
And she'll keep touching herself
And we'll both die of guilt
And we'll both die of guilt

Four days now I've tried
Four days now I've tried
Sister Evangeline won't talk to me
I heard she moved away
And had my baby
And she'll keep running from me
And I'll keep touching myself
And we'll all die of guilt
And we'll all die of guilt

Oh and Sister Evangeline
You know He is a part of me
And every night I sing songs for Him to find
Oh and Sister Evangeline
I am trying to make a family
But you keep moving so far away from me

Oh and Sister Evangeline
You know He is a part of me
And every night I sing songs for Him to find
Oh and Sister Evangeline
I am trying to make a family
But you keep moving so far away from me

General Comment:This song is about a priest falling in love with a nun and how they both try to escape their guilt not only by breaking Catholic clerical policy, but having a child out of wedlock. It is so sad and wonderful.

General Comment:this song is absolutely haunting. i think it's about a girl who seduces a boy, by getting him to love her as he's never loved before, and when he finally gives into her, it's too much and she has what she wants and she takes off with his child, and he wants something different- he wants it all and she won't let that happen, she just keeps going and he knows nothing else- i think they're both afraid. but hey, what do i know?
