I turned my back on my friend for this reason and I've promised myself not to do it again, since she's depressed again now :/ even though theres nothing I can do to save her, I'm not trning my back.
i've had the CD for a while and i only realised how amazing the song really is today...
in my head i imagine a girl being rejected because she was depressed and ended up taking drugs and doing stuff to/with guys.
the girl is in hospital. the girl's friends feel really bad for turning their backs on the girl and being bitches when she needed friends the most.
they just wish they could have been there for her when she was depressed instead of her turning to drugs and random flings.
I agreed with the people who stated the song is about experiencing a feeling of remorse for having walked away from a self-destructive person that means a lot to you, although I didn't necessarily think it was a "boyfriend"... it could very well be a friend or a family member. But now, and knowing the songwriter's interpretation, I can also see the message that the songwriter was originally conveying.
wanna be life anthem for someone i can totally picture a very stereotypical emo looking but very pretty(& skinny) looking girl totally doing that awkward omg im very self conscious and im all by myself in this world nobody loves me thing that all the people that stupid little teenage girls do whenever they get on a music video and kelly totally doinf the im here because of you thing.
