She got the call today
One out of the gray
And when the smoke cleared
It took her breath away
She said she didn't believe
It could happen to me
I guess we're all one phone call
From our knees
We're gonna get there soon

If every building falls
And all the stars fade
We'll still be singing this song
The one they can't take away
I'm gonna get there soon
She's gonna be there too
Cryin' in her room
Prayin' Lord come through
We're gonna get there soon

Oh it's your life
Oh it's your way
Pull me out of the dark
Just to show me the way
Cryin out now
From so far away
You pull me closer to love
Closer to love

Meet me once again
Down off Lake Michigan
Where we could feel the storm blowing
Down with the wind
And don't apologize
For all the tears you've cried
You've been way too strong now for all your life

I'm gonna get there soon
You're gonna be there too
Cryin' in your room
Prayin' Lord come through
We're gonna get there soon

Oh it's your life
Oh it's your way
Pull me out of the dark
Just to show me the way
Cryin out now
From so far away
You pull me closer to love
Closer to love

Cause you are all that I've waited for
All of my life
(We're gonna get there)
You are all that I've waited for
All of my life

You pull me closer to love
Closer to love
Pull me closer to love
You pull me closer to love
Closer to love oh no
Closer to love
Closer to love

Pull me closer to love

General Comment:It's amazing to me...so many professing Christians who believe that there is saving power in the name of Jesus Christ but then they write songs that are completely void and absent of that very name (Acts 4:12).

It's sad that this song is so ambiguous and filled with idle words that it requires someone actually having to attempt to give it a possible Biblical interpretation (Matthew 12:36-37; I Corinthians 14:11).

This is no different than so called Christians who are so desparate for secular entertainment that they attempt to attach a Biblical reference or meaning to wicked, witch craft filled, secular movies, just to try to justify being entertained by them. Nothing more than a lukewarm, watered down and stripped down attempt to serve two masters (Matthew 6:24).

General Comment:I love this song. The first stanza says it all, “we’re all one phone call from our knees”, one call of a tragic accident that forces use to run to God for comfort. Those moments seem to happen more often for some people than others, but it’s really in those moments that you can begin to sing the song “the one they can’t take away”. And in those moments when you are calling out to God and are “closer to love” you strip away all of the pretense that anything else in life mattered, humbled by whatever tragedy struck your life, but safe in the eternal arms of a loving, caring God.

General Comment:I hear this song on Air1 Christian radio all the time (as well as the secular radio stations). Mat says himself that he found faith. I believe this song is his version of God being there for anyone who has either received that phone call or know someone who has...where he says "Pull me out of the dark just to carry the weight"...although I am sure that many people would love to carry the burdens and pain or those suffering, only God can truly do that. Sure, we can comfort those suffering..but unlike God, we cannot get deep into their hearts and remove the pain...prayer and faith do that.

This is a beautiful song and I am grateful that it is played on secular stations as well as my favorite (Air1) otherwise my daughter may have never heard it. The video is great too...that sounds like fun...recording music over the telephone. lol. =) Have a great day everyone!!

General Comment:This song means so much to me. It was over a phone call from my brother that I learned that his best friend died. The first time I heard this song after his death, my jaw dropped at how accurate the lyrics lined up with how I felt. Never did I think I would get a phone call about the death of a friend at such a young age. I've felt sad and lonely for so long, but I'v always looked to God to comfort me through it all. I don't even know what else to say. This song gives me chills, and I think it's easily relatable to many people.

General Comment:I'm not a religious person, but my dad passed away a couple weeks ago and i have heard this song before but when i heard it today it had a whole new meaning. I found out over the phone and i literally fell to my knees like he says in the beginning of the song.I never thought it would happen to me and this song tells my story (and i'm sure so many other people in different situations) perfectly.

General Comment:I was recently diagnosed with cancer and after hearing this song it became my anthem. To me the song was about her finding some out some bad news (disease or otherwise) and no one ever wants to believe that something horrible will happen to them, it always happens to other people. so while hes going through this with her hes basically saying that hes gonna stick with her through it and that when its over they'll come out of it together. I think that the part where he says "And don't apologize for all the tears you've cried You've been way too strong now for all your life" is something I think most people can relate to. whenever we get upset we just vent on someone and then we feel horrible about dumping our problems onto them, and I think hes telling her that its okay to be upset. Its okay for you to feel scared or alone because you've been so strong in the past.

General Comment:I fell in Love with Kearney's music when he came out with Undeniable. I love the way he puts things... even if sometimes I can't understand!
