and easy swing had its time showing
slow bending ash
and now its a photo thing
and swing hasn't had it
and here we are rebuilding roads
right by roosting towns
its just like the love
the one thats never been enough
so im counting on your fingers
cause you've reattached the twitch
and if you go unpin it,
i will die along the ditches
and every summer is a hot token
to the cold coin take of us
and every autumn singes
with the buisness of sadness
and fred had it wrong macy
hon, he had it burned
now the curve in the county
is nana's urn
so im counting on your fingers
cause you've reattached the twitch
and if you go unpin it,
i will die along the ditches
slow bending ash
and now its a photo thing
and swing hasn't had it
and here we are rebuilding roads
right by roosting towns
its just like the love
the one thats never been enough
so im counting on your fingers
cause you've reattached the twitch
and if you go unpin it,

and every summer is a hot token

and fred had it wrong macy

and if you go unpin it,
i will die along the ditches

That's what list dj says. And it makes sense because summers= love. Kinda :)
"in every song is a heart talking"
thats what i hear
but a fan told me to check out what you all are saying on here. its very interesting.
to set the record fully straight, here are the official lyrics to brackett, wi.
(also, brackett is just the name of an unincorporated town 10 miles south from where I grew up/live.
its where i went to elementary school. there is no school there anymore.)

with the business of sadness.
i don't her an l or a t at the end of that line.
I don't understand where the whole "Slow bending axe" thing came from... I can't here the X sound when he says it. It sounds more like sh or s. Steam bending is a technique of wood bending for furniture (ie. a sitting swing)... and ash is an ideal type of wood often bent. I wouldn't be surprised if I was way off on this though.
A pinion is another word for "wing" or "feather"... ie. a bird that might fly away. A twitch, may be an indication of restlessness. Again, a shot in the dark.
I think there may be some juxtaposition between the "hot token" and the cold coined take of us. Tokens are usually a reminder of something, but are also in the form of a coin. Perhaps used in the "Business of sadness". Really I don't know.
As for the last verse... I have no ideas on what he's talking about there!
But I did listen to the sounds carefully (with my good earphones) and I heard this:
An easy swing, had its time showing
slow bended ash
now it's a photo fit
the swing hasn't had it
and here we are rebuilding roads
ride by roosting towns
it's just like the love
the one that's never been enough
so I'm counting on your fingers
cause you've reattached
the twitch, and if you grow a pinion
I will die along the ditches
and every summer is a hot token
to the cold coined take of us
and every autumn singes
with the business of sadness
"fred had it wrong" they sing
honey had it burned
now the curve in the county
is their reserve
so I'm counting on your fingers
cause you've reattached
the twitch, and if you grow a pinion
I will die along the ditches
An easy swing had its time shouldered
Slow bending axe
And now it's a photo framed
The swing hasn't had it
And here we are rebuilding roads
Right by roosting towns
It's just like the love
The one that's never been done
So I'm counting on your fingers
'Cause you've reattached
The switch (that shut off)
And even if you wore a pin
I would die along the ditches
And every summer is a heart talking
To the cold, cold take of lust
And every autumn singes
With the business of sadness
Afraid you had it wrong, they say
Honey hadn't burn
You know the curve in the county
Is never served
So I'm counting on your fingers
'Cause you've reattached
The switch (that shut off)
And even if you wore a pin
I would die along the ditches
