Lyrics for Fair Fight as interpreted by mlfowler

Fair Fight Lyrics
Made it fourteen city blocks without breathing
Light breaks from the left and hits between the buildings
Stoplights change their name from green to red to green again
Love has its critics but they never keep many friends
It’s alright this could be a rough night
So hold tight this is not a fair fight
She up and died and left you in a fall you cannot forget
You were too young you said “not yet, not yet, not yet”
That year the cherries choked from pretty pink to red to brown
You looked around but she was nowhere to be found
It’s alright this could be a rough night
So hold tight this is not a fair fight
It’s alright this will be a rough night
So hold tight this is not a fair fight

i think this is about losing the person you love, and those next few years/months when you are just in that fog. You are simply walking around and seeing life pass you by but you don't know how to get out of that funk.

it's a sad song, but very relatable

When i heard this song i thought of September 11th and how the he walked all these city blocks barely breathing cause he didnt know if the one he loved was still alive. And the stoplights went from red to green and back again but nobody was moving and that was kind of what it felt like for him like nothing was moving because he still was unsure of her situation. Eventually he finds out she didnt make it and now hes broken. Hes saying that it wasnt a fair fight because she didnt have a chance to live or fight for her life, it was taken from her unwillingly.

This is what i got out of it, any thoughts?

I think jnydn has it pretty spot on. That's the vibe I'm picking up on too

The song is clearly about losing a loved one. However, I think the first part is talking about the trip to the hospital in the back of an ambulance.
