There's certainly gossiping girls around and stuff like that, and I'm not one of them. I don't know WHY they'd want to do that.
It pressures other people to get involved. People who aren't involved are considered nerdy/dorky/uncool/etc.
And that's something to be proud of.
They did a great job with this song; pretty much anyone can relate to it, so I guess that will have an impact on the popularity of the song. (Since it just came out I guess not much people know about it, so..)
