Talking: Plain Pat what up?

My heart thump not from being nervous
Sometimes I'm thinking God made me special here on purpose
So all the while 'til I'm gone make my words important so
If I slip away, if I die today the last thing you remember won't
Be about some apple bottom jeans with the boots with the fur
Baby how I dream of being free since my birth
Cursed but the demons I confronted would disperse
Have you ever heard of some shit so real
Beyond from the heart, from the soul you can feel

And if I die before I wake, I pray the lord my soul to take
But please don't cry, just know that I have made these songs for you
And if I die before I wake I pray the lord my soul to take
'Cuz I'm ready for a funeral

My mind runs I can never catch it even if I got a head start
God please tell me I am feeling so alone way
I don't need to worry 'cuz I know the world'll feel this nigga
Blessing in disguise but I am not hiding who I am open your eyes bro
If I ever met you, I appreciate the love yo
Girls that I dated, it's ok I am not mad yo
Unless you stabbed me in the heart, no love ho, this shit is so ill...
Play it back from the top if you recognize real

And if I die before I wake, I pray the lord my soul to take
But please don't cry, just know that I have made these songs for you
And if I die before I wake, I pray the lord my soul to take
'Cuz I'm ready for a funeral
And if I die before I wake, I pray the lord my soul to take
So please don't cry, just know that I have made these songs for you
And if I die before I wake, I pray the lord my soul take
'Cuz I'm ready for a funeral (I'm ready for the funeral, I'm ready for the funeral)

My Interpretation:There are many different thoughts and feelings you get by listening to this song and truly understanding the lyrics of the artist of the song. Kid Cudi really has some strong words in his lyrics that have a lot of meaning behind them. In the first part of the song, he explains how he thinks God has a special place on earth for him on purpose and that his heart is thumping not because of being nervous, but because of the joy he has of being here (on earth). He says how he will be making all of his words important until the day he dies. In the next line he talks about "the last thing" we "will remember wont be about apple bottom jeans with the boots with the fur" as that used to be a trend that was fairly popular. He is trying to say that all of the important people in your life and important events are the only thing that you will be remembering as you are leaving this earth. He then mentions how he wanted to be free since the day that he was born and I think that has some significance to the freedom of our country and what it stands for compared to other countries and their situations. The demons confronted him but he says that they will disperse and not bother him again since he is free. He wouldn't have to worry about them again. This is my general interpretation of the first verse. It has a lot of meaning behind it if you really listen and try to understand the lyrics as they are placed in this song. It may mean different things to different people but in the end it people get the same general idea.

My Interpretation:I see this as Kid Cudi's metaphorical musical suicide letter. It's a reflection on his life, and he's making amends with all of the girls that he's dated, and telling his fans that it is for them he made music, not the cash. He even turns to God here a little bit saying that he's trying to make the most of the special purpose that God sent him to make. He is just saying that if he were to die now, he would be happy with the things he's done and the impact he's made on the world. A beautiful song.

General Comment:My interpretation from this song was similar to dys and it was Kid Kudi is trying to say that if he died today or tomarrow he wouldnt mind because he has done all he needs in life to fulfill salvation with Jesus Christ.

    When he says
"So all the while 'til I'm gone make my words important so
If I slip away, if I die today the last thing you remember won't..."
he is saying that he is trying to reach out to the audiance (you) saying hes not going to make his last words of his raps be about jeans and stuff, its gunnu be about god.

He is trying to preach to you.

He believes that God put him on this world and he is going to use his talent to reach out and teach to you guys.

Are you ready to die? if you were to meet with god and he asks you "what have you done to reach out to others and bring them to christ" would you be able to say "i have"?

this is what i got out of this song.

General Comment:man i wish i just sit and talk to this guy

he is so intelligent with the deepest meanings and his songs never get old. after a while of the same song being played we get tired of all that mainstream rapping bullshit. ive listened to this song so many times, stoned and sober and i will never get tired of his songs.

my dad also died early in my life (i was 16 and have a brother 3 years younger) and this song means so much to me. when he talks about the night terrors and those fucking cold sweats... man being able to relate like that makes it so meaningful.

when he talks about not being able to "catch his mind even with a headstart" hes talking about the million of thoughts that run thru his head... MILLIONS. i go to college and this whole depression JUST hit me after three years of being completely numb to my dad dying and lemme tell you, not being passionate about anything, makes you just wanna sleep in bed the entire day (probably skipped 90% of my classes). i fucked up school really bad this semester and honestly i never lost my love for these songs.

Kid Cudi, if i ever meet you in real life, i wanna give you a hug man. Youll understand the connection or whatever we have and sitting and talking to you would be the chillest thing ive ever done.

    keep it real
Make your next album just as good as these ones (impossible to make them better)

General Comment:This is my interpretation of Kid Cudi's Prayer:

"My heart thump not from being nervous
Sometimes I'm thinking God made me special here on purpose"

Kid Cudi's heart thumps because of his passion and love for hip hop, he is not nervous about his ability to share this passion and influence others making him think God made him special for a specific purpose.

"So all the while 'til I'm gone make my words important so
If I slip away, if I die today the last thing you remember won't
Be about some apple bottom jeans with the boots with the fur"

So until he dies, he is always going to make his lyrics matter and inspire
Because if he dies, his contribution to life won't be about materialism.

"Baby how I dream of being free since my birth
Cursed but the demons I confronted would disperse
Have you ever heard of some shit so real
Beyond from the heart, from the soul you can feel"

Cudi describes his desire to inspire as "being free" and he dreamed of it since birth.
The demons are the obstacles and corruption he faces in a materialistic society, and Cudi has also been a victim, but he confronted these demons allowing him to overcome.
Cudi is expressing passion and hope as the key tools of overcoming life's obstacles which the statement has a lot of truth or "real". This truth inspires humans to see the possibility of their own dreams, "Beyond from the heart, from the soul you can feel".

"And if I die before I wake, I pray the lord my soul to take
But please don't cry, just know that I have made these songs for you
And if I die before I wake I pray the lord my soul to take
'Cuz I'm ready for a funeral"

If he dies before he is able fulfill his purpose, then he prays the Lord that his soul takes this passion up to heaven because it is such a big part of him. Which is why he asks his fans not to cry because he will be taking this passion with him, but his passion to inspire through hip hop will live through his songs.
"Cuz I'm ready for a funeral" Cudi is prepared for his death because he has gave his all to express his love and passion and to inspire, and he has no regrets.

"My mind runs I can never catch it even if I got a head start"
Cudi has so many ideas, and thoughts to inspire that he can't even grasp them at times.

"God please tell me I am feeling so alone way"
He is asking reassurance from God about his purpose because he can't find any other artists with the same purpose which makes Cudi worried

"I don't need to worry 'cuz I know the world'll feel this nigga
Blessing in disguise but I am not hiding who I am open your eyes bro"

But Cudi stops worrying because he has faith that humans will be able to relate to Cudi.
Cudi is a "blessing in disguise" because the real disguise is mainstream hip hop's superficial influence to society, so Cudi will be wearing this disguise of hip hop but is a blessing because of what his songs inspire. "I am not hiding who I am open your eyes bro" Cudi won't be holding back anything in his songs, but it is up to the listener to realize, and be moved by Cudi's message.

"If I ever met you, I appreciate the love yo
Girls that I dated, it's ok I am not mad yo
Unless you stabbed me in the heart, no love ho, this shit is so ill...
Play it back from the top if you recognize real"

If Cudi thanks the fans who has been inspired from his songs
And to the girls that left Cudi because of his love for his passion was greater than his love for his girlfriends, he isn't mad at them, but to those girls who told him that his passion will go nowhere, "You stabbed me in the heart" he has no love for them because they have no idea the beauty Cudi feels from inspiring others through his songs "this shit is so ill"
So if you feel Cudi's message than play the song over.

General Comment:@PuppyKillingMachine Just so you know, Day N Night starts playing at the end of this song because it's the song b4 Day N Night on the album A Kid Named Cudi. You know, so one song blends into the other and there's no gap between songs.

I think this line tells the whole story of the song. Pretty much how Scott is coming on the scene, and he is thankful for god making him special with the words and meanings he can create. his heart thumps not from being nervous of carrying the role that was givin to him but his heart beats because of the passion he has for creating words and music. God made him special, and if he dies away he wants to be remembered by how real his shit is.

General Comment:Cudi is saying in this song that if he dies off then he wants people to know his songs weren't about a bunch of bull shit like apple bottom jeans with the boots with the fur.
