Been through a lot in the last year
It’s like everything I love is slipping away
And every time I come home
Some more of me isn’t there

I've gotta get it together
I need to do things for myself
I’ve given everything, but still you take more from me
I need some room to breathe

Come on come on, you know this isn’t what we planned on
Come on come on, tell me we’ll be okay (we’ll be, o-kay!)
Let’s go back, let’s go back, to a time where I still felt I had family

This isn’t what I remember
Everyone's looking out for just themselves
If need be, I’ll be happy to leave
Just be warned, I’ll be taking most of you with me

I see straight through, that smile straight through that painted face
Don’t think that I can’t tell
Which one of you is against me

Come on come on, you know this isn’t what we planned on
Come on come on, tell me we’ll be okay (we’ll be, o-kay!)
Let’s go back, let’s go back to a time where I still felt I had family

I have the greatest faith in fools
I turned my back and out came the wolves
PAY ATTENTION.

Come on come on, you know this isn’t what we planned on
Come on come on, tell me we’ll be okay (we’ll be, o-kay!)
Let’s go back, let’s go back to a time where I still felt I had family

Been through a lot in the past year
It’s like everything I love is slipping away

Song Meaning:To me Jeremy is trying to say that: everything is different from what it used to be. My friends are now enemies and my world is starting to fall apart. My family is falling apart and so is my idea of how my life was. I put my trust in the wrong hands and now the effects are starting to show. Its hard to trust people now and everything i loved and cherished is "slipping away."

The whole album is amazing and this is one of my personal favorites. It speaks clearly of how life is now-a-days as well.
Also, i think this song has a tie in to 2nd Sucks off of their newest album. "I laid my life on the line so i expect nothing less from you" = "I have the greatest faith in fools, i turn my back and out came the wolves" ? Idk. Maybe im crazy but it seems to connect pretty well.

General Comment:It's definitely "I turned my back and out came the wolves."
My friend actually has an ADTR shirt he got from Warped that says that on the back :p

This song is definitely about betrayal, like once mentioned. You think you can trust someone you've known for a while since he mentions a time when he had 'family' so I'm thinking it's someone he considered to be very close. All along they we're putting on a facade, coming in with the "painted face" lyric.
I also was thinking about how "You Already Know What You Are" is really similar to this song.

General Comment:Actually merkedez the lyircs are
"I have the greatest faith in fools,
I turned my back and out came the wolves"

i actually have the homesick album and checked the right lyrics

    I love this song
I think the start of the song tells us of how he doesnt feel as a whole and someones just bringing him down and hes realising this by saying "I've gotta get it together"

Then the song i believe goes on to saying how everyones becoming so self involved and fake but hes standing up and saying that hes not buying it.

    Then i think
"I have the greatest faith in fools,
I turned my back and out came the wolves"
basically means that he put his trust into people he thought were friend to him but obviously they turned out to be liars and untrustworthy

    hope that helps guys :)

General Comment:i believe the correct breakdown lyrics are either

"I am the greatest thing that falls
i turn my back and you hit the walls!
    PAY ATTENTION!"

    or

"i am the greatest thing that falls
i turn my back and look at the walls!
    PAY ATTENTION!"

    General Comment:I love the line:

I have the greatest faith in fools,
I turned my back and out came the wolves.

It's so relevant to life in how you have to be careful with your trust and where it lies.

It's similar to the line "you can't trust everyone you meet" in You Already Know What You Are.

Love this song. Love the whole cd.

General Comment:Nobody's really taken a shot at the meaning, and it's pretty self-evident, but here goes anyways.

If this song had to be summed up in one word, it would probably be betrayal. The writer talks about how there are people working against them and how they don't think that the writer knows this. Also, the writer implies that they shouldn't have trusted people, and the second they turned their back, they regretted the choice to trust who they did.

The writer appears to be addressing somebody, and they seem to be marginally involved in the backstabbing, although it seems the writer has faith in the idea that maybe they weren't a central figure to it or largely responsible for it. He implores them to go back to a time when none of this was happening. The writer draws a line, asking the person to prove themselves by leaving with them, knowing that if they have to leave alone, then the person most likely did take sides against him.
