It was a matter of time 'til this day came, whoa
It was a matter of time 'til this ground gave, whoa
Somebody's at the door
I don't believe we live here anymore
Maybe it's all the right dreams at the wrong time, whoa
Maybe it's better to start a whole new life, whoa
Somebody's at the door
I don't believe we live here anymore
Somebody's at the door
I don't believe we live here anymore
You know the bottom line was
I couldn't change your mind
Honey, could I?
Somebody's at the door
I don't believe we live here anymore
It was a matter of time 'til this ground gave, whoa
Somebody's at the door
I don't believe we live here anymore
Maybe it's all the right dreams at the wrong time, whoa
Maybe it's better to start a whole new life, whoa
Somebody's at the door
I don't believe we live here anymore
Somebody's at the door
I don't believe we live here anymore
You know the bottom line was
I couldn't change your mind
Honey, could I?
Somebody's at the door
I don't believe we live here anymore

When he says, "We don't live here anymore" it's a metaphor for the relationship being over. They don't reside within the relationship any longer.
I love this song.
"It was a matter of time til this ground gave", which is the imagery of the world being done away with. "It was a matter of time" meaning it was inevitable because it is God's plan.
That person at the door... well, He'd be Jesus, ahah.
"Maybe it's all the right dreams at the wrong time" Well every Christian is excited for Christ coming back but they had dreams of what they wanted to do on earth that could not be finished due to His return.
"Maybe it's better to start a whole new life" EVERLASTING LIFE... pretty sweet, huh?
