Lyrics for The Downfall of Us All as interpreted by eltroyo11

The Downfall of Us All Lyrics
Let's go
It's not easy making a name for yourself
Where do you draw the line
I never thought I'd be in this far
Let's have some fun and never change, not for anyone
Try not to miss me when I'm gone
I sold my soul to the open road
I live my life alone

You won't find me in the same spot, believe me
I could never stop
My life's turned upside down
Meet me out past the train tracks, I'm leaving
And not coming back
You're right and I was wrong
This town will be the downfall of us all

I'm gonna need you to try to follow along
I did the best that I could to try to write you songs
Now go tell them we sold out
Like we're the ones who changed
I write what I feel, I say what I mean
You can't buy sincerity
I sold my soul to the open road
I live my life alone

You won't find me in the same spot, believe me
I could never stop
My life's turned upside down
Meet me out past the train tracks, I'm leaving
And not coming back
You're right and I was wrong
This town will be the downfall of us all

Don't forget yourself
We made up our minds
And we said three, four, five
Signed the dotted line
Don't forget yourself
We made up our minds
And we said three, four, five
Signed the dotted line

You won't find me in the same spot, believe me
I could never stop
My life's turned upside down
Meet me out past the train tracks, I'm leaving
And not coming back
You're right and I was wrong

You won't find me in the same spot, believe me
I could never stop
My life's turned upside down
Meet me out past the train tracks, I'm leaving
And not coming back
You're right and I was wrong
This town will be the downfall of us all
This town will be the downfall of us all

Downfall of us all
Downfall of us all
Downfall of us all
Downfall of us all

Heres my translation that is 100% correct!

Duh duh duh duh, duh duh duh duh,
duh duh duh duh duh duh duh,

Let's go!

It's not easy making a name for yourself,
Where do you draw the line?
I never thought I'd be in this far,
Let's have some fun and never change that for anyone,
Try not to miss me when I'm gone.

Wh-oa, wh-oa,

I sold my soul to the open road,
I LIVE MY LIFE ALONE!
You'll find me in the same spot believe me,
I could never stop, my life's turned upside down.

Meet me out past the train tracks,
I'm leavin' and not coming back,
You're right and I was wrong,
This town will be the downfall of us all.

I'm gonna need you to try to follow along,
I did the best that I could to try to write you songs.

NOW GO TELL THEM WE SOLD OUT
LIKE WE'RE THE ONES WHO CHANGED
I WROTE, "THE FEELING'S NEW TO ME", IN MY SINCERITY.

I sold my soul to the open road,
I LIVE MY LIFE ALONE!
You'll find me in the same spot believe me,
I could never stop, my life's turned upside down.

Meet me out past the train tracks,
I'm leavin' and not coming back.
You're right and I was wrong,
This town will be the downfall of us all.

Don't forget yourselves, we've made up our minds,
We signed 3, 4, 5 on the dotted line.
Don't forget yourselves, we've made up our minds,
And we signed 3, 4, 5 on the dotted line.

You'll find me in the same spot believe me,
I could never stop, my life's turned upside down.

Meet me out past the train tracks,
I'm leavin' and not coming back,
You're right and I was wrong.

You'll find me in the same spot believe me,
I could never stop, my life's turned upside down.
Meet me out past the train tracks,
I'm leavin' and not coming back,
You're right and I was wrong
This town will be the downfall of us all,
This town will be the downfall of us all.

DOWNFALL OF US ALL!
DOWNFALL OF US ALL!
DOWNFALL OF US ALL!
DOWNFALL OF US ALL!

that sounds pretty good cyrix thanks for that
but idk in the first line of the chorus it still seems that "you won't" would make more sense, cause he goes on to say "i could never stop, my life's turned upside down" implying his life is always changing or he is always on the move or something to that
idk just a thought
but i do agree that it could easily sound like "you'll" too

Well it's obviously about how they don't want to stay in a certain town or maybe any town for too long.
About the dotted line part, they could be speaking of making a big record deal (the kind that turns the good bands to crap) but AFAIK they are still on Victory? Which is a great label that doesn't twist arms.
They just want to have fun at this and not be worried about all this big tour shit, if I understand it.

Even if I'm completely wrong it doesn't matter, it's still a sick ass song and my favorite off of Homesick yet =]
Can't wait to see them in Pcola the 4th !!

To me, this song sounds like a continuation to The Plot To Bomb The Panhandle, where they are still trying to tell the haters to fuck off about how they have "changed" and are not the underground band they fell in love with.

As for the song it's self it like the whole album is very good, I love the gang chorus and while listening to this, I can picture the giant mosh they will have when this song is played, because just listening to it makes me want to get up and dance.

It's not easy making a name for yourself.
Where do you draw the line?
I never thought I'd be in this far.
Let's have some fun and never change, not for anyone.
Try not to miss me when I'm gone.

Woah oh oh. Woah oh oh.
I sold my soul to the open road.
I live my life alone!

You won't find me in the same spot, believe me.

I'm gonna need you to try to follow along.
I did the best that I could to try to write you songs.
Now go tell them we sold out, like we're the ones who changed.
I will not feel I sold out me in my sincerity

Woah oh oh. Woah oh oh.
I sold my soul to the open road.
I live my life alone!

You won't find me in the same spot, believe me.
I could never stop.
My life's turned upside down.

"we signed three, four, five on that dotted line."
Do you think that could be like either a figurative speech for signing away the lives they had before the band, OR it could be them signing to their record label.

I find this song just to be talking about how they had to tour for a long time. When they say don't forget that we made up our mind. The dotted line part is referring to their contract saying how they all did sign a deal to do this. I think the reason they say this town will be the downfall of us all is cause of the fact that as long as they're a band they have to go to a new town so often so in a sense any town they go to could be a downfall cause they don't know what will happen there. The line that you wont find him in the same spot is just saying that they don't get to stay in one spot for long. I think that is what the song is about.

Dear Uneed2recognizeaplaya,
You, sir, are an idiot. You are correct in that they are still on Victory. However, as far as it being a label that "doesn't twist arms," that is bullshit. Maybe not as much as major labels, but it is definitely worse than any other "independent" label (and far worse than any hardcore label around). Bridge9, Deathwish, Rivalry, etc. all give their bands much more leverage. Not to mention, Victory records is solely out to make money, not to build any sort of positive community.
But on the main topic: I agree that this song is great. Seriously good work from ADTR.

I really believe this is a song dedicated to the rise of their fame.
Singing to tours, and more records.
And how being an underground hardcore band, and becoming so famous.

And honestly, with the lyrics.

"Now go tell them we sold out, like we're the ones who changed.
I will not feel I sold out me in my sincerity"

It's about the hardcore scene who have been fans for a while, calling them sell outs.
Which honestly, I've been listening to them for years before they signed to a main stream lable.
And how they haven't changed.
Especially since they screamed that part, and showed that they haven't lost their hardcore edge.

Honestly, I'm glad that they singed to a more popular record, maybe hardcore music will be around a lot longer, and more bands will make it. Because that's what most go into bands hoping, to make it big, and gain fans of their music all over, not just their home town.

Love their new album though.
