It's late and I'm awake
Staring at the wall
Open up my window
Head falls out the door

No one else around
And a shimmer takes my eye
I lift my head
Blinded by the sky

Feel my weight in front
Following the sound
Moves away so fast
Falling to the ground

I know what is more to come
Jump back to my feet
Now I only see ahead of me
Chasing down the street (down the street, down the street, down the street)

Give my love to a shooting star
But she moves so fast
That I can't keep up
I'm chasing

I'm in love with a shooting star
But she moves so fast
When she falls then
I'll be waiting

Give my love to a shooting star
But she moves so fast
That I can't keep up
I'm chasing

I'm in love with a shooting star
But she moves so fast
When she falls then
I'll be waiting

Give my love to a shooting star
But she moves so fast
That I can't keep up
I'm chasing

I'm in love with a shooting star
But she moves so fast
When she falls then
I'll be waiting

Give my love to a shooting star
But she moves so fast
That I can't keep up
I'm chasing

I'm in love with a shooting star
But she moves so fast
When she falls then
I'll be waiting

I think these lyrics are mostly right, but this is what I think it is. Not entirely sure but yeah. Cheers.

Came out to a shooting star But she moves so fast That I can't keep up I'm chasing

I'm in love with a shooting star But she moves so fast When she falls then I'll be waiting

i love the way these lyrics talk you through the events and you can visually see what he is singing about..

i believe this song is about unexpectedly falling in love for with this amazing person. i dont think this other person realises that someone is in love with them.. i think it describes the way he believes that they are meant to be together so he wont give up, and that he will just patiently wait..maybe ? ? ?

i think the meaning posted here is right, except i don't agree with how he thinks "they are meant to be together" i think he is saying she is way out of his reach, because she is so high up and caught up in her own affairs she doesn't know he exists. however if she ever finds the time for him he will be waiting for her still.

the lyrics too are mostly right but im pretty certain the first verse of the chorus is "give my love to the shooting star". there are too many syllables for the other option.

I always thought he was saying 'gave my love to a shooting star' not 'came out to a shooting star' but maybe it's just me. =/

I'm pretty sure its "Gave my love to a shooting star", not "came out to a shooting star"...this song was just on asongeveryday.com, by the way (great website to find new songs)

Are you sure the lyrics aren't "feel my way in front" as in feeling your way through the dark

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
