We found a house
with a yard
And moved all of my things in
And most of your things in
And honey I was proud of it
Yeah honey I was proud of, you...
You quote the good book
when its convenient
but you dont have the sense
no you dont have the sense
to tie your tangled toungue
instead you slash it through the mud
and some boxes
and hand me down couch, and chair
they used to be at your church
we borrowed them from there
and cabinet-record player
with nothin but james taylor
tore the carpets from the corners
to put in that hardwood floor
i'd be a fool to have asked for more
You quote the good book
when its convenient
but you dont have the sense
no you dont have the sense
to tie your tangled tongue
instead you slash it through the mud
The love you had was good enough
The paths that we were stuck between
beside myself i stop to think,
oh lord what have i done
You quote the good book
when its convenient
but you dont have the sense
no you dont have the sense
to tie your tangled tounge
instead you slash it through the mud

some plastic daffodils, The cutlery and coffee cups I stole from all-night restaurants (weird here that both songs stole/borrowed something, and a puke green couch..... the similarities end there really, but ild be willing to bet ($10,000 huh Mit Romney) that Adam heard the song by the Weakerthans and based his off the list thing..... both great songs! :)
It obviously talks about a relation that was good, and it isn't anymore, or maybe it says that they precipitate and thought they were made for each others but at the end it came out they weren't,
The "we found a house with a yard..." for me, means that they were really happy and thought they will together forever so they made a lot of stuff couples use to do, like maybe buying a house, and you know. And obviously, they fell like really proud of the relationship they used to have.
"You quote the good book when it's convenient" It may means you know, the bible. I don't know so much of this Chauntelle thing, and it's pretty obvious the song is for her. But when i listened to this part, i used to think about me being mad at my boyfriend because of some things he used to do, and then he became like a saint, and said a lot of things that made me believe the one who was wrong was me, when in reality, he was the one with the bad actions. So i felt really identified with those lines. For me it doesn't mean necessary the bible but you know, "good arguments".
"The love you had was good enough. The past that we were stuck between, beside myself i stop to think, oh lord what have i done" He hurted me and i didn't want to forgive me, so i stayed a long time in that place. Then i forgived him, adn blah blah, The "lord what have i done" it's exactly how i feel now we're broken up. Not that i regret it, but you know.
So that's what i think about that song, which is pretty good, btw, and i love it.
that used to be at your church
we borrowed them from there.." the Dupree's have this church venue ...which I go to plenty shows there...so I'm going to guess he's talking about Brewtones/Vineyard church? Adam did afterall perform there once...This album is pretty sad to me though.
she only quotes the bible when it fits her beliefs, when its convienent to her but when she's going against it, (i.e. talking sh*t "tangled tongue") she never menitons the good book
Well- it is definately about adam's break up, i mean it has to be! And so what if it's obvious? Because if its in amazin song- which it is- and has fantastic lyrics and an awesome raw kinda sound and it really means something and when you listen to it, it gets you thinking and feeling, which in my opinion it does, then the obviousness of a song isn't important.
i love this song- its one of those "im pissed off at you and im gonna shout at you because your the fucking cause of it bitch!" songs, and... i dunno, its just really amazing, the whole album is actually, it really gives me that kinda vibe which i really love.
So well taking back sunday for making a truly awesome album that i will never forget and keep listening to for sure!
And if you wonna say something rude about my opinion, go ahead, but whats the point in doin that? To be a big prick probably, ha.
positive comments are welcome by the way.
