I should have seen those signs all around me
But I was comfortable inside these wounds
So go ahead and take another piece of me, now
While we all bow down to you

You tear me down
And then you pick me up
You take it all
And still it's not enough
You try to tell me
You can heal me
But I'm still bleeding
And you'll be the death of me

How can you end my affliction
If you're the sickness and I'm the cure'
Too long I've faked this addiction
Another sacrifice to make us pure

You tear me down
And then you pick me up
You take it all
And still it's not enough
You try to tell me
You can heal me
But I'm still bleeding
And you'll be the death of me

You tear me down
And then you pick me up
You take it all
And still it's not enough
You try to tell me
You can heal me
But I'm still bleeding
And you'll be the death of me

I won't forget
I cannot forget this
I won't forget
I'll never forget this
I won't forget
I cannot forget this
I won't forget
I'll never forget this

I won't forget
I cannot forget this
I won't forget
I'll never forget this
I won't forget
I cannot forget this
I won't forget
I'll never forget

You know I can never prove this solution
You aren't the one that I thought you were
And so I learn to embrace this illusion
The line that separates
It starts to blur

You tear me down
And then you pick me up
You take it all
And say it's not enough
You try to tell me
You can heal me
But I'm still bleeding
And you'll be the death of me
And you'll be the death of me

I will not forget
I cannot forget this
And you'll be the death of me

My Interpretation:i think this song can be put in three different ways:
    1. this song is about addiction, and not just drugs or sex, but emotional addiction, like thinking that the person who you depend on to be happy, is also the one who is killing you on the inside. This person pulls the life right out of you, and you still believe that they are your salvation, but this song is about realizing that they will destroy if you let it happen, and its about letting go whats hurting you.

    2. From a religous point of view this song is about the endless struggle between god and the devil, im not religuous but this song is about listning to god and to stop feeding the desires of evil, which youve given everything but its still never enough.

    3. Alike to #2, this song can also be about the battle within yourselves, and how you may feed into your own desires but it will still never be enough to make you happy. you think these desires will heal you but all they do is break you down and leave you bleeding, and judging from the video, the song is trying to say that your worst enemy is always yourself, and it will never leave you, no matter how perfect your life may seem.

General Comment:I know that the meaning of the "I won/t forget/I cannot forget this/I won't forget/I'll never forget this" is talking about how sin draws you into doing something, and then, it keeps reminding you every step you take. It just doesn't let you forget and I think that's what they are trying to portray here.

Song Meaning:I agree with donotbug, though you can see it as what Satan's doing to you. We are tearing ourselves down with sin, and Satan is tricking us into tearing ourselves.

General Comment:I think that just about everyone together got the message together because alot of what you guys are saying is what i think it means. Whoever did the lyrics though, there are quite a few mistakes and i can point them out so it will be correct.

But I'm still bleeding and you will be the death of me"

    (My own personal opinion):
When it says this I believe "you" is referring to those temporary joys in life, or sin.
Because think about it those temporary joys(pornography, drugs, alcohol, etc.) do provide us with happiness and feel good chemicals sent to our brain. But in the end they tear us down. It's sort of a self fulfilling prophecy. Think about it like this:

Say you're struggling with masturbation, and porn. You want to stop and please God, but every time you do it you feel like crap and you carry guilt and shame with you. Masturbation, 99% of the time, has emotional triggers. That just means stress, having a bad day, or those feelings of guilt and shame can cause you to masturbate to make you feel better. So when you do have those feelings it's easier to fall into that temptation hence the "You tear me down, then you pick me up"

Satan wants to take everything from us, our salvation, faith, and happiness we receive from being Christians. But that's not enough for Satan he wants our lives to hurt and cause our brothers to stumble that's what I get from the "You take it all, but still it's not enough"

"You try to tell me you can heal me" think about it Satan is a sly, mischievous thing. Remember how he tempted Jesus and he even quoted Scripture to make Jesus think that it's the right thing to do. Satan's lies will seem not that bad at first, and maybe even beneficial, but once he has you in his hands, you will reap the consequences and things will go to heck, explaining the "but I'm still bleeding"

AS for the "you will be the death of me" it says in Romans 6:23:

"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Sin WILL be the death of us, but thankfully for God's amazing Son we will live again and will be given a second chance. We are forgiven.

General Comment:If you've seen the video, this songs meaning is much more clearer than just listening to it. I think it's about the fight between himself (spiritually) and himself ("flesh"/"demon"). The fight doesn't end, though, because it'll go on for the rest of your life.

General Comment:I know that that is the intended reason for the song, but I take it more deeply. I take this song is about depression pills or something of the sort. "while we all bow down to you." There are a lot of people who don't need to be taking these pills, but think that it's the only way because of how many people do take them. "How can you mend my affliction If you're the sickness and not the cure?" Meaning the fact that everyone is turning to anti-depressants instead of dealing with the problem. Now I understand that some people have to take them because of actual medical reasons. I just think that too many people are turning to meds for the answers. "I cannot prove this solution You aren't the one that I thought you were." meaning that they are not always the answer and that people need to learn to be more mentally strong and not rely on something so absurd. If that makes since... =] that's how I take it anyways. Peace, love, robots =]

My Interpretation:I see this song more as a narrative of the struggle between the flesh and the spirit.

General Comment:Obviously the quote donotbug posted is the intended meaning of the song, which is very obvious if you have seen the video. I absolutely love this song, I can't get enough. Every time I listen to it I watch the clip instead cause they did such a good job of the video.

General Comment:It's interesting to see the intention of these lyrics. I definitely took them differently. It seemed to me that, knowing the band was Christian, these lyrics were about the singer finally having had it with God. The singer gives everything to God and God just takes and bathes the singer in pointless guilt in this never ending, abusive cycle even worse than a co-dependent human-human relationship. Or maybe that's just MY personal feelings about God. ;)
