Lyrics for 27 as interpreted by blinxbcr

27 Lyrics
If home is where the heart is
then we're all just fucked
I can't remember, I can't remember
and I want it so bad
I'd shoot the sunshine into my veins
I can't remember, the good old days

and it's kinda funny
the way we're wearing anchors on our shirts
When being anchored aboard
just feels like a curse

My mind is a safe
and if i keep it then we all get rich
my body is an orphanage
we take everyone in
doing lines of dust and sweat
off last night's stage
just to feel like you

milligrams in my head
burning tobacco in my wind
chasing the direction
chasing the direction you went

You're a ... star
the planets align
you're just like Mars
you shine in the sky
you shine in the sky

Are all the good times dead on gone?
come and go and come and go (come and come and go)
I got a lot of friends who are stars
but some are just black holes

My mind is a safe
and if i keep it then we all get rich
my body is an orphanage
we take everyone in
doing lines of dust and sweat
off last night's stage
just to feel like you

and it's kinda funny
the way we're wearing anchors on our shirts
When being anchored aboard
just feels like a curse

My mind is a safe
and if i keep it then we all get rich
my body is an orphanage
we take everyone in
doing lines of dust and sweat
off last nights stage
just to feel like you

If home is where the heart is
then we're all just fucked

i think he's talking about how he doesn't want to do this anymore, it doesn't feel like it did before(I can't remember, the good old days) and how he doesn't get the thrill at concerts like everyone else (doing lines of dust and sweat off last night's stage just to feel like you)

I think the song is titled '27' because that's how old
Pete was when he wrote it.
That obviously wasn't the best year for him - "i was pretty sure id die at age 27 (glad i didnt)".

Pieces of this song were posted back in April of '07.

for some reason i think he tried to write this from joe's perspective. this seems like how he feels.. but idk. after ioh joe especially had some hard times with the band (apparantly, from blogs and interviews) 'milligrams in my head burning tobacco in my wind', but maybe that doesnt mean anything.. anyone could relate though. thats what its all about..

I can't believe it took me this long to realize, but 27 is a reference to the 27 Club. Many famous musicians and actors died (often of drug overdoses) at age 27. This song's about Pete's problems with prescription drugs, I guess. "My body is an orphanage, we take everyone in..." all the drugs...

"Are all the good times dead on gone?
come and go and come and go (come and come and go)

there celeb friends, are bittersweet, if fob wasnt big they wouldn't be friends, sounds like he wants to go back to the norm running around in the white van, "going nowhere fast" (eowyg) now that they have it all they aren't sure if they really want this anymore and that makes me sad.
fave line
"my body is an orphanage"

Before everyone goes

"OMG Patrick said F***!!"

It isn't the first time he did. Look up the song One & Only and you'll see what I mean.

Is it just me, or does it feel like nearly the entire album has a ton of drug references? Thats kind of unlike Fall Out Boy.

I'm holding off on listening to the whole album until the 16th, but I'm picking and choosing tracks on the MySpace leak to check out. To be honest, it feels like what they put out on iTunes may be the best on the album - I haven't been too impressed with anything else thus far, neither musically, or lyrically.

I agree with caelae with the orphange how they take all the drugs in.
I also think that "my mind is a safe and if I keep it then we all get rich," refers to who ever the songs talking about keeps their mind and doesnt give it away to drugs the songs that they could make could get them all rich.

catycaty-

I think that it means that it's ironic that we keep ourselves in places where we don't want to be, where we aren't comfortable, but our actions and appearances keep us there anyway.

But of course, that's me. And like every Fall Out Boy song, there isn't just one meaning to it.

Ok! Has anyone thought that this could be about ppl in the navy?
You know how pete said he that on this album he tried to put himself in other ppls positions so ponder this
"If home is where the heart is then were all juss fucked"- navymen stay long periods of time on ships in the water so their morale could go down as a result
"I want it so bad i'd shoot the sunshine into my veins"- idk if yall have been on a navy ship b4 but I have & its easy to see why one would miss the sumshine if you weren't allowed up for a while
"Its kind of funny how were all wearing anchors on our shirts when being anchored aboard juss feels like a curse"- yet another navy reference...
Idk this was juss thought lol

its not about pete at all. i actually cant stress how much this whole album is nothing to do with pete. every song is to do with politics.

just noticed maybe the 'fucked' is also supposed to be kind of like 'fuct' from under the cork tree?
since this is the first time patrick swears on an album..
