Lyrics for A Crippling Blow as interpreted by jeremygrim

A Crippling Blow Lyrics
Here in my house
Time is sweet
I hear the children playing in the street
Out with the hot winds blowing in the breeze

Ah-ah-ah

I don't need time, I don't need time
No, I can get by myself
I don't need time, I don't know why
The summer wind did not tell

I scrambled online and I know that I
Will never be calm and well
But I can get by in the meantime
By myself

Woo!

He's a real winner
Probable to say
Sleeping in, a lazy afternoon
A danger to the doubters, they assume

I don't need time, I don't need time
No, I can get by myself
I don't need time, I don't know why
The summer wind did not tell

I scrambled online and I know that I
Will never be calm and well
But I can get by in the meantime
By myself

Deal me a crippling blow
Steal me from under my clothes

I don't need time, I don't need time
No, I can get by myself
I don't need time, I don't know why
The summer wind did not tell

I scrambled online and I know that I
Will never be calm and well
But I can get by in the meantime
By myself

Well, I can get by in the meantime by myself

"I scrambled online"? More like "I scrambled on mine [time] and I know that I
Will never be calm and well" He wasted a lot of time and that is something he will always regret.

Who is posting online this The Killers messed up lyrics?

LMFAO @ "I scrambled online". Seriously, someone please fix that.

I think this song is about doing things on your own accord.

This is so deserving to be a part of the album, rather than a b-side!

I think this is definitely one of the best songs off Day & Age even if it is a b-side

Lame album?
Glad you corrected yourself.
Losing Touch, Human, Spaceman, Joy Ride, Neon Tiger and A Crippling Blow, all awesome songs.
I rate it, just quietly.

All I can hear is "I scrambled online" too.
Although I do tend to agree with the interpretation of this song, being about doing things of your own accord.

I love the piano in this song. I believe that the bonus tracks off Day & Age are better than the album itself!

I have listened closely and i think he sings "I scramble on mine", referring to the the previous line "I don't need time"
meaning that he scrambled on his time
I can't be sure though

I thought it was: "I scramble all night/ And I know that I/ Will never be common will"

why the killers dont add lyrics in the records!!??

I've been listening to this song lately, and while I can't interpret the lyrics in their entirety, I'll put it to you this way: recently I've had some trouble at work. My bosses are blowing something minor completely out of proportion, and now I have lawyers and union reps on my side fighting to get my job back. This whole process could take a year.

My point is that when I listen to this song, I think of my situation: They dealt me a crippling blow, but I can get by in the meantime by myself. I won't be calm (this is my reputation and career we're talking about), but I'll get by.

I don't know if that's what they were going for, but that's what I hear.

yeah kateblahblah (lol) that makes sense.
also your interpretation is good because you haven't tried to go "oh brandon flowers definately means this because of this obviously!". you just applied it to your life how songs are meant to be applied and made it mean something to you. i think we should be less concerned with what it actually means (although i do admit that is interesting) and more concerned with what it means to us.

I get the impression this song could be about some form of life threatening disease?
It just made sense to me at the time.
I was driving home listening to it.
"time is sweet"
"will never be calm and well"
"a danger to the doubters they assume"
"I don't need time"
etc.
To me it sounds like someone has a life threatening disease, and without having much time to live, but not knowing how much time.
