back when ils dating my ex gf. she came over my house to download some music and one was this song to put on her ipod. well i deleted it from my itunes cause i didnt want a song by beyonce next to my heavy metal. later she told me she had put it on my itunes cause it was her song to me. and i felt so bad. so later that night i got to listening to it and i just broke down and cried im a guy and i can admit that.

Has anyone else thought of the whole song as a metaphor for an aura of love or peace? That's how I've always seen it; being in the presence of someone you love and you just feel so calm and loved around them, it's like they're perfect and you never want that feeling to go away :)

welllll this is just what i interpret
but i think it maybe about how she's completely in love with a man. and perhaps this guy has hurt her.. maybe cheated on her.. and then all her friends ("gravity" pulling her down) are telling her don't take him back etc. but she see's the good in him because she loves him so much. she see's his 'halo', and it maybe hurting her how much she loves him. oh and also she's praying it won't "fade away", she's praying he won't do it again.

This is one of my favorite songs and I have lost many ppl in these 2 years and ppl that Ishouldnt have lost yet...Im 14 and I lost my mom and dad and uncle in les than 6 months total so this song for me is dedicated to them. It's the only song that will not make me cry when it is so beautiful and graceful.

IT'S A BREAK-UP SONG!!

It's hard to tell, but after careful listening I picked up on the tone in Beyonce's voice. Think of it this way. "Halos" are almost never something you seriously talk about. When you say "I can see your halo" you usually are being sarcastic. This song is also sarcastic, and the fact that "halo" is repeated over and over keeps emphasizing it, thus making it even more sarcastic. When something is sarcastic, it has the opposite meaning of its literal meaning. Its literal meaning is that she loves a guy and wants to be with him forever, thus its actual meaning is that she hates a guy and wants to break up with him

Beyonce did a genius job hiding the meaning in her lyrics so well!

frst off as a christan person is not suposed to talk romance toward god. second why would she hide her self from god? i think she's talking about lucifer taking poession of her body because in the song she said (some how i let you in with out a fight)other hint it feels like have been awaken. This song practicaly saved me when i was hospitalized for depression for three months this year.
It was mine and mums song.
i built walls, she tore them down
i found a way to let her in and she became my angle
and i will never shut her out again.
This song means more to me than anyone can understand.
Best song in the world .

i interpret this song as being about a girl who broke up with a lover resulting in them both getting hurt very badly, and then the same lover comes back to her later on in life and she vows never to lose him again.

Well this song is pretty much about how the speaker used to be very cautious about getting in a relationship, presumably because they had had many bad ones before, but then they found this one person (their halo) and they tore down all of her "protective barriers" for relationships, and she's sort of taking a risk because this person breaks all of her "rules" about what to look for in a guy, but she loves him so much she doesn't care. Its great.

umm not sure about this but i think that this song is about someone losing someone close to them. If you watch the video it looks like Beyonce loses a boyfriend. The video shows beyonce looking sad and stuff and then it shows her happy in what appears to be flashbacks with her and her boyfriend (like at christmas or birthday). The line "I'm surrounded by your embrace"-in the video its like hes always around her and she can see him-she can only feel him. anyways when i hear this song i just think about someone losing someone close to them-thats all...

i think everybody obviously has their own perception of all and any songs...

but this song to me reminds me of my lil baby girl im about to have.
and i know ill listen to the song a million times more when shes born...

just the way it says ur my saving grace.
she is... even though shes not here.
she has changed my attitude towards life sooo much..

I have a question.. could this song be interpreted not as a lovy dovy thing but dedicating it to a criminal who says and shows that he has changed? for example: "Everywhere Im lookin now

This guy of who im speaking of is my cousin but he's like a close big brother to me and the things he has done were stupid but thats what you do when you are young, soo each time i look at him, all i see is a halo, its written all over his face that he is innocent, and i hope that that "look" of his never fades, because it makes me realize that the mistakes he has done were childish.

But i don't know if this song can be taken in that kind of way, could anyone answer my question pleasE?

To me its about letting someone into her life after being guarded, finding someone who is truly different, the walls she built are tumbling down, "the didn't even put up a fight"
Being hurt in the past "swore i'd never fall again" to fall in love?
Finding someone who makes life seem great, bright after a dark time "hit me like a ray of sunshine, burning through my darkest night".
In short, meeting someone truly amazing.

I don't like Beyonce and I don't like this song. She has a good voice but, just like Mariah, she doesn't use it very well. This song is just another excuse for her to howl and shout. Overplayed and very poor.
