Lyrics for Halo as interpreted by youaintright20

Halo Lyrics
Remember those walls I built
Well baby they're tumbling them down
And they didnt even put up a fight
They didnt even make a sound
I found a way to let you in
But I never really had a doubt
Standin in the light of your Halo
I got my angel now

Its like Ive been awakened
Every rule I had you breakin
Its the risk that im takin
I aint never gonna shut you out

Everywhere Im lookin now
Im surrounded by your embrace
Baby I can see your Halo
You know youre my saving grace
Youre everything I need and more
Its written all over your face
Baby I can feel your Halo
Pray it wont fade away

I can feel your halo (halo) halo
I can see your halo (halo) halo
I can feel your halo (halo) halo
I can see your halo (halo) halo

Hit me like a ray of sun
Burning through my darkest night
Youre the only one that I want
Think im addicted to your light
I swore Id never fall again
But this dont even feel like falling
Gravity cant begin
To pull me to the ground again

Feels like Ive been awakened
Every rule I had you breakin
Its the risk that im takin
Im never gonna shut you out

Everywhere Im lookin now
Im surrounded by your embrace
Baby I can see your Halo
You know youre my saving grace
Youre everything I need and more
Its written all over your face
Baby I can feel your Halo
Pray it wont fade away

I can feel your halo (halo) halo
I can see your halo (halo) halo
I can feel your halo (halo) halo
I can see your halo (halo) halo
I can feel your halo (halo) halo
I can see your halo (halo) halo

Halo, Halo

Everywhere Im lookin now
Im surrounded by your embrace
Baby I can see your Halo
You know youre my saving grace
Youre everything I need and more
Its written all over your face
Baby I can feel your Halo
Pray it wont fade away

I can feel your halo (halo) halo
I can see your halo (halo) halo
I can feel your halo (halo) halo
I can see your halo (halo) halo
I can feel your halo (halo) halo
I can see your halo (halo) halo
I can feel your halo (halo) halo
I can see your halo (halo) halo

I'm not a fan of Beyonce, I'm more into rock-n-roll, but this song is without question the best song on the album. It has been a long time since a song has moved me, and this one surely did it. It's obvious what the song is about and it should without a doubt be the next single. A+

I was just wondering if this song is about God? Or a lover? Because it says "baby" I can see your halo.. but then she says "saving grace"... so I'm confused. Please let me know what this song literally means, thanks

She really outdid herself with the ballad disc on this album. This is a wonderful song, it was supposed to go to Leona Lewis but ended up with Beyonce, which Im thankful for because Leona bores me to tears!

Wooowww. I love this song and i agree that its the best off the album. I think it's just about having that person in your life that is your stability, your all. It could be God, or it could be a relationship. I dunno wat it is, but my two fav songs at the moment are this one and Halo by Pussycat dolls. Love 'em.

This song is very easy to interpret:

It's not about God - although I would've loved it to be about Him - and if it relates to you in that way, then take it as such.

This is a girl (or guy) who has been hurt enough to build walls around him/her. She/he doesn't trust her relationships, so when this person meets this "someone" - she/he is very "cautious" at first.

This person even tries to "test" this person to see if they are for real.

Its like Ive been awakened
Every rule I had you breakin
Its the risk that im takin

You know how sometimes people do that "game" to test others to see if they're really sincere. Trust issue. Perhaps Beyonce's character pushed this guy over the edge to see if he would still be committed? Sometimes that's risky - because you don't know if they'll stay committed, but she tested him because she simply had to know for sure. It's a foolish way to be secure, but that's what it meant.

However, this person came to some point in his/her life and they are convince that this special "someone" is indeed the real thing! And the "halo" revelation is that she finally sees that he's a good man! Thus, in the first verse, all her guard is let down without a fight, she trust him.

So with that understanding, I think the rest is self explanatory. :)

I agree with songburdie, this song is probably not about a religious experience (or else the word "baby" would not have been used...who refers to God or to Jesus or to any religious figure in a clearly romantic fashion). This song is more than likely a song about finding love: romantic love (since this is a common theme in Beyonce's music). One can also interpret this song as being about finding love in general like say a real close friendship.

I agree with Songburdie's interpretation of the song. I think they described it very well.

I love this song and I love the video too. The guy in the video has really nice eyes too and him and Beyonce are cute together. Haha. I think the song has a really nice meaning though and it shows in the lyrics and the video. I love a lot of Beyonce's music because she can have fun with her music and still have songs that have more meaning. She has variety in her music, which makes her such a good artist.

this song is absolutely gorgeous. beyonce sounds beautiful. I think this is definitely abou a girl who was very closed off, and now she's opened up and found out how amazing it can be.

B, this describes the way I feel about you.
You are an angel, my saving grace
and I wish you could see that.
I'm lost without you and the sadness never ends.
I miss you more than words can say,
more than I can ever show.

I think the song is about a girl who’s been hurt by someone that she once cared.
In order to avoid the risk of getting hurt again, she built walls around her.

Some time later a guy comes into her life.
She finds it hard to stay behind those walls.
It even happens so naturally that she couldn't even hide her feelings.
Finally, she had the courage to step out of her comfort zone
And take the risk to let him into her life.
Cause she knows that he is worth of taking the risk.

She feels like this is something new that she's never had before.
Cause this guy embraces her and gives her so much piece and comfort
Just like what she’s been waiting for.
She is thankful God and praying him for making this happened.

The words are spilled out beautifully.
Been there, done that.
Instead of hiding behind those walls,
We have to bring them down to the ground to welcome new people into our lives.
That’s a great way of helping ourselves to heal our bruises.
We have to let go of our past.
New day will bring new people if you learn to let our guard down

I'm pretty sure this song is about a lover that died. The "walls" that she sings of in the first verse, they had been built in order to make the whole situation of living without her partner as easily as possible... in denial, perhaps. But then she allows the walls to fall down, and she's found a way of letting him in again "I aint never gonna shut you out". She is now able to grieve, "I can see your halo". Read it again from this perspective, it's heartbreaking :(

Does anyone think its about someone with an actual halo? I do.

'Baby I can see your Halo
You know youre my saving grace'

Becuase of the 'baby' I do think it is about a lover. About a guy or girl who built up walls because of previous hurts but they meet this person that is an angel and those walls they built come tumbling down. They thought it might be hard but really never had doubt that they could be brought down by the right person.
It would be interested to hear a leona lewis version, but im glad beyonce ended up singing it if those above are correct and the song was between them two. But anyway, she did a great job, I love this song.

i think this song is about BOTH god and a lover, she shielded herself off but god had blessed her with an angel (her lover- hence the halo part) who she can trust and finally let them in - and so letting in Gods embrace (god sent him to her) .....so basically i see it as getting a blessing from god, like an angel and being thankful because they were in the dark before
